I've been running with this thing since I got it, and it's perfect for the job. (I didn't get one of those arm bands that you can get with it because I hear that those are not so good). It's lightweight, it holds more songs than I need in a run, and it's got a great battery life. Simple. This is the straightforward ipod; NO frills. I am not a young adult who purchased this ipod. This was my first time using any type of ipod. I found it to be perfect and easy to use, an excellant type for a no fuss user. Wonderful item. I use it mainly when I am in the gym and it is so small it never gets in my way. Just clips to my breast pocket. Volume is good, and sound quality is great for what I need it for.
The software (iTunes) could be better. I wish there was an easier way to sort my songs before uploading to this player.

If you like to listen to music while you work out or jog, this wonderful device is absolutely essential, especially if you don't want to lug around a portable cd player or a larger Ipod. I was given a shuffle from work as an award, I had never wanted one before, but I set it up today and started listening, the sound is absolutely amazing. It may even be better than my 5G 30Gig video. The big con is that you are at the mercy of the ipod as to what songs you listen to, I like having a screen.
