Customer Review: My first ipod is a winner
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my first ipod and I'm not disappointed. Although my primary interest in an ipod was for music while exercising on the treadmill/elliptical, I wanted to be able to view video podcasts so I wanted an small ipod that could do both. (I developed an interest in video podcasts after visiting a site, http://www.ted.com/talks, which had a number of fascinating talks re innovation and the future.) When this ipod was released, I purchased one because it seemed the perfect compromise - able to handle both music and video in a small, affordable size. The only thing I dislike is 8 gig limit. Although i haven't reached that limit after several weeks, it won't be long. Users need to think about how much space they need (with more being better) and balance that against size. For example, the "classic" ipod offers more storage (and has good sale prices), but the con is the size. Another consideration for those that want video is the resolution of the picture. There can be dramatic differences between the ipod and cheaper mp3 video players. Try both out before deciding. I think the video on the ipod nano is pretty amazing. However, some folks who are visually challenged may need a larger video screen.
The one annoying thing about the design of the ipod is that because the headphones connect on the bottom side you can't set the ipod upright without a stand. When you want to view video, that's a real problem. For exercise, I cut out an ipod shape in the middle of a square block of styrofoam (with indented room for the ipod and the cord). When I exercise on a machine with a reading rack, I just place the ipod in the block of styrofoam on the rack. The plus is that if it falls it is surrounded by sytrofoam.

Customer Review: My current favorite of all the iPods!
Summary: 5 Stars

Of course, everyone knows that whenever you buy an iPod, soon after the geniuses at Apple will unleash another one which is better than yours. Even after seeing the 4th-gen nanos, I still think that this is the best iPod that Apple has made so far. It is basically all of the good things from every other one so far packed into the 3rd-gen nano, which is this one. It is very easy to use, for those of you who aren't familiar with iPods. It is very simple, and to the point. The lists of songs, artists, albums, genres, etc. are very organized and in a clear, easy-to-read font. The click wheel, I noticed, is a bit less sensitive than the 1st and 2nd-gen nanos. Unlike the first nanos, this one has the capacity for many types of video such as tv shows, movies and more. And the 8 GB (up to 2,000 songs) is just enough for me. I absolutely love the color blue also. The overall design of it is very appealing, and similar to the iPod classic. The battery life lasts a lot longer, usually about 24 hours when you first get it. One thing that I really like is the search, where you can search for anything on your iPod, like songs or albums. There are also several built-in games, or you could buy more on iTunes. I have had this iPod for almost a year and I am very happy with it. It is very durable, and it was able to hold up for several months until I got a good case for it. I would say to get this iPod if you want a reasonable price, a good amount of media on it, and all the basic features.

Customer Review: This is my first iPod ever.
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought mine a few weeks ago at the Post Exchange on a whim and I LOVE it! I was lucky to be able to purchase this because we live on a US Army base in South Korea and they sold out quickly. I am sure I could have gotten one out in town but I don't know if I would have the same tech support.
Anyway, this is my first iPod I ever bought and I think it's perfect and it's in my favorite color, blue!
I read some people have trouble with the wheel or that the screen is too small but I don't have any trouble since I have no experience with any previous iPods and I can see the picture just fine. My son has the classic video 30GB iPod he bought over the summer but I never used it. He really wanted mine when I got it but too bad, he has to stick with the one he has!
Do buy a case for it. I bought a hard clear case for mine because I carry it in my pocket all the time. That's the nice thing about shopping out in town in Seoul, an abundance of accessories for any type of techno gadget. If you are ever in Seoul, visit the electronice market, it will make your head spin.

Customer Review: Awesome Nano with added Video!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought the blue Nano 8 GB 3rd generation Ipod this past Saturday at the Apple Store. It did freeze up on me once but if you read the owners manual on [...], it tells you how to reset it. I did as they instructed and it was working normally again. It kept everything in memory and did not erase anything. The video function is awesome! You quickly forget you're watching on a 2 inch screen as the screen is so sharp, bright and clear.

Cover flow is so cool, although a bit slow but nevertheless it is a nice added feature. Some album covers do not load in Itunes so will not download to your player properly. This might be a glitch that Apple may address in a future software download patch (I hope).

If you are looking to purchase a Nano, I highly recommend the new third generation over the second, simply because of the added video feature and twice the memory for your money. It is definitely worth it for the added memory alone.

Overall, more bang for your buck and a nice new cool look and interface, with an all metal construction.

Customer Review: Another great iPod product
Summary: 5 Stars

Apple keeps improving on their incredibly popular iPod line. The 3rd generation Nano is smaller, has more capacity and now comes in a variety of colors. Features, mechanics, and sound quality are the same as it's predecessor. We'll have to see how battery longevity holds up. This has been an issue for Apple in the past, and was the subject matter of a class action law suit that enriched a bunch of lawyers but didn't do much for the legions of iPod owners out there (including me). Anyway, make sure you get a case when you purchase your iPod. Every iPod I've ever had seems to scratch way too easily (like from looking at it the wrong way--LOL). Software called MediaWidget (for Windows users) will help you do things with your iTunes library you will eventually have to, or want to do, for under $20. This is all perfectly legal and legitimate stuff that iTunes is designed to preclude for whatever reason.

The 3rd generation Nano is the best product of its type. The only concern I have is battery longevity, but only time will tell.
