Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple iPod nano 8 GB Black (4th Generation) [Previous Model]Customer Review: Nay sayers...die Summary: 5 Stars
No seriously, they shouldn't die.....may be wait a few months before passing judgement. I think the product is solid. It weighs much less, thinner and the display alone justifies the price you pay. If you don't want the screen to move. Lock it. If you lock it, it won't move, simple. The battery life is enough. For me at least, it's enough for me to play it at work for an entire shift and take it for a run after. If you are playing video, of course it will suck up the battery much faster. But to me, that's logical. Don't expect to last longer. Plan accordingly and take a cable with you. As far as attachments, what did you expect, may be a microwave to go along with you new ipod. What about we go back to 8-tracks or how about we start using VHS intead of DVD, wait lets just go back to cassette tapes intead of CD. Yeah that's a fine idea. Let's just move forward and spend a few bill for new attachments and sell the old ones on eBay. In my humble opinion, its a great improvement for the price, especially if you buy the 4GB for $129.
Customer Review: Love it Summary: 5 Stars
Having upgraded from a three-year old 1st generation nano, I was very impressed with this updated version as soon as I began to use it. I love pretty much everything about it: the price, appearance, the sound quality, the battery life, video, the extra features including some fun games and genius... everything. Out of all that, though, the interface and iTunes, I think, are probably the best features. The software is just so easy to use and intuitive. Nothing else comes close to what Apple has created, not even Zune (no matter how hard it may try). Just about the ONLY things I can complain about it are the tiny scroll wheel which can make games somewhat frustrating; and the tilt control, which is a tad bit too sensitive (I recommend turning off tilt cover flow if you like to blindly control your ipod from inside your pocket). Ultimately, the good FAR outweighs the bad, and I am very glad to have bought this iPod, especially since I saved $20 by buying on Black Friday.
Worth every dollar =)
Customer Review: I just got it today and I'm loving it Summary: 5 Stars
I sold my 30 GB 5th Generation iPod that I had for two years and upgraded to this new 4th Generation Nano. I bought the red one off Apple's website (only place you can get that color) and it looks and functions great. The screen is crystal clear and you can turn it sideways for cover flow of all your music, watching videos, looking at pictures or playing games. If you get bored with a song and want to change things up, just shake your iPod (it takes some force, so it won't change if your exercising) and it will jump around your music library and surprise you. The 8 GB version is enough for me because I only use it for music, but the 16 GB is worth the extra $50.00 if you want more than 150 albums or a lot of videos on it. The genius feature is pretty neat as well. You play a song, activate the feature, and it finds other tunes that go good with the one playing.
I love this new iPod! I'm glad I got rid of my bulky one for this sleek looking design.
Customer Review: Accessible for the blind and visually impaired Summary: 5 Stars
I never owned an iPod until I went blind a year ago. A friend who is a big Apple fan, discovered that the iPod Nanos have a function for a voice to speak the menus. He bought it for me and hooked it up to his computer. In the computer, you can turn on the talking feature, and even select the voice and rate. He put a bunch of music on it for me and I was using it easily. All the menus you see speak to me. The dial is easy to use and I can listen as I scroll. It tells me what song is playing, and every function is accessible. If you have a screenreader, you can hook the Nano up and make it talk to you. The new iPod shuffle also employes the talking feature, since there is no screen. Because of the Nano, I discovered that all of Apple's computers with Leopard include a screenreader. So I bought one and that is how I am typing this now. It is my mission to get the word out about Apple, and how wonderful they are in the accessibility arena.
Customer Review: Not as good as the old 30GB I had Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased an 8 GB Nano. I had it for less than 30 days when the I pressed backward to listen to a portion of a book I was "reading". When I did the Nano reset itself, I lost my place in the book. And the Nano stopped working. I could not even turn it off. So I let the battery wear down and the nano reset itself when I started recharging it. At that point I would be listening to a book and press back and the book would switch to another. Amazon was EXCELLENT in replacing it. I received a new one in 2 days FREE. They gave me free shipping back also. So what started out to be a disaster turned out to be fine. I am still playing my books every day back and forth to work. I had read well over 100 books this way. First with my 30 GB Ipod, that was great and lasted years and finally the back seized. And that was the end.
I would do the whole Nano thing over again.
