Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple iPod classic 80 GB Silver (6th Generation) OLD MODEL

Customer Review: Great picture and sound, so easy to use
Summary: 5 Stars

I've actually had my iPod (my first) for a year now and it still works as well today as it did when I got it. One of my favorite features is the video. I love adding movies, TV shows, even youtube videos, to my iTunes and uploading them onto my iPod. The picture quality is fantastic and it's so cool to be able to watch stuff on the run or on a trip. No portable DVD player required.

The overall quality of the iPod seems to be great. It's a heavy little thing, but sturdy. It was dropped from a height of about 4 feet about 20 minutes out of the box, hit the floor hard, and has not yet malfunctioned.

One thing that tripped me up at the very beginning was the use of the click wheel, though it's not nearly as bad as I've read in other reviews. I like how it works and I don't really mind the slight bit of insensitivity. (Dry hands = not good) But it wasn't quite as intuitive to use as I thought it would be. Or maybe it's just me. I was an iPod virgin, after all. ;)

Even after a year, I still have TONS and tons of available space left on it for more music, pictures, videos, etc. I love it and highly recommend it to anyone.

Customer Review: Mostly Terriffic
Summary: 5 Stars

Lets face it - the iPod is the most accessorized product on the market. With gadgets galore - that is half the fun of having one - more so then the Creative Zen Vision I had. It has a great sound and is easy to carry around on the go. I don't personally like having to eject it through iTunes to remove it - but it really isn't a terribly long process. iTunes is great for purchasing music - the Genius sidebar that actually makes mixes for you based on what music you have is also great. In some cases, it isn't quite work like my brain is wired to expect it to (and I dare not call it "worse" or "better" then Windows Media player - I am just very familiar and like many things about it better). I also don't like how difficult it seems to move your music around from computer to computer (My Creative product, I could pull music off and on easily no matter if I was at my home or work computer) - iTunes seemily makes this difficult (though I understand the necessity of that for my purchased items). I still love the product and will likely stick with iPods for the rest of my purchasing life.

Customer Review: great product
Summary: 5 Stars

I had a 5th generation ipod that stopped working because of water exposure (which is totally acceptable), and i found myself in the need of getting a new player.
I was really happy about the other ipod and i also have a lot of accessories (bose sounddock, itrip)...so i was kinda stuck to the apple products.

Anyway, the point is that i had to get myself a new one. I started reading some reviews and i ended up getting this 80 GB ipod. So far, it has worked ot great for me. Battery lasts long, great display, large capacity and all that.

But there is one thing that should be said: i could have gotten the newer ipod (the 120 GB)for the same price, but i found out that THE BOSE SOUNDDOCK, AS WELL AS OTHER ACCESSORIES DON'T CHARGE THE IPOD because of some firewire change.

THE 80GB DOES...so i was very happy to know that all my research paid off and i now can take advantage of all the functions of my ipod.

The point is, make sure you really dig into all the information you can get to make sure you're getting the right item for you.

Customer Review: A worthy upgrade
Summary: 5 Stars

The most important thing to consider about purchasing this iPod is what you're coming from or comparing it too. Sure, it may not be that much different than the 5th Generation, but for people that have held on to older models (I had a 3rd Generation) or for whom this is their first iPod, it's absolutely as good as it gets. Sure, the scroll wheel isn't perfect, but it's better than the significantly older models, and it's definitely better than nothing! The only real major that I can see from the 5g is the new hard drive capacity. When I was considering getting a new iPod, I knew I wanted space, but I wasn't quite willing to sacrifice the slimness of the 30 gig. Now that's not at all an issue and all my needs are satisfied. On top of that, the new cover looks terrific (not nearly as rounded as it looks in all the pictures) and the cover flow is nice, though not perfect. So I would say that if you've got a 5g, it would probably be wise to hold out for a bigger iPod touch or something, but if you've got an older model or nothing at all, then this is just about as good as it gets.

Customer Review: If It Isn't A Mess, It'll Do Until The Real Mess Comes Along
Summary: 5 Stars

I never had an iPod and bought this one because...

Because I wanted the big storage capacity and did not mind the larger size. And, unlike other reviewers, I have only had to reset it once. What is a "mess" about it is the hegemony Apple has tried to establish over music management.

"You'll like our stuff so much you won't mind our abuse," is Apple's attitude and, so far, they've done well with it.

As much as I might resent being told that there is only one acceptable way to manage my music collection, I love this thing. The indexing is fantastic. I can get at whatever I want to listen to quickly, it holds so much, and it's hard not to like.

Cover flow is bogus, for sure. So - who needs cover flow, anyway? If you can read, you can do whatever you need with your music on this thing.

NOTE: My rating pertains only to music and pictures. I have no idea how this does with video.
