Customer Review: Bluetooth defined
Summary: 5 Stars

The promise of Bluetooth technology has largely been unfulfilled, unless you count those people seemingly talking to themselves on the streets with that attachment protruding from their ear. In my youth, anyone engaging in conversation alone would seem to be a good candidate for the looney bin. Now it is nothing to be startled by someone behind you in the supermarket aisle saying things like "She's too young to go out with someone in college" or other intimate details of personal or family life.

So despite a healthy skepticism of Bluetooth, I have embraced this beautiful and compact keyboard with enthusiasm.

There are two basic reasons to go wireless at your Mac. The first is aesthetic. Macs, and particularly iMacs are contemporary classics which look even better untehered by wires running out from under it. (This also is a reason buy the excellent Apple Mighty Mouse Wireless Kit The second is functional. Keyboards do not need to be less than a foot from their hosts. All you need to do is see the screen. With a big enough iMac, that range can be substantial.

This keyboard is very lightweight and extremely responsive. There is no appreciable lag from key strike to display. The only negative is that the keyboard configuration gives up separate numbers display. But so do laptops, and people get along just fine. You will too.

Customer Review: Works great
Summary: 5 Stars

Everyone has strong personal preferences for keyboards that can result in opposite reviews, as is true for this product. For me this keyboard is a pleasure to use.

Most important to me for a wireless keyboard is the reliability of the bluetooth connection. I am pleased to say that I have had no connectivity problems and no erratic or "dead" keys.

The keyboard requires a lighter touch than many keyboards since the keys do not depress as much as on other keyboards. Whether you like such a touch, which is fine for me, is a matter of preference, but by no means does such a touch make the keyboard "flimsy." On the other hand, if you like to "pound" on a keyboard when you type, you should choose something else.

I like that the keyboard occupies only a small footprint on my desk, and that I can easily move it when I want to use the desk space for something else. I also like that the keyboard is not cluttered with all kinds of media and shortcut buttons. I have a keyboard like that for my pc laptop connected to an external monitor, and it takes up twice the desk space. Also, since I use this with a MacBook connected to an external monitor, the keyboard has its own shortcuts with the existing keys.

For use with an Apple computer this keyboard works great.

Update December 22, 2010. I have been using this keyboard for almost three years and am still very happy with it.

Customer Review: Great keyboard - money well spent
Summary: 5 Stars

As another reviewer noted, you can't really appreciate how small and thin this keyboard is until you see it in person.

It took some getting used to as I have some pretty big paws. I kept hitting the wrong keys at first.

But after a hour or so of typing, I got with the program. I'll never switch back to a larger keyboard.

The other apple keyboards really do seem large, bulky, and dowdy in comparison!

The keys feel great underneath my finger tips. They're responsive but not overly sensitive.

I've already noticed an increase in my productivity as keyboarding is now a more enjoyable experience.

This keyboard saves a lot of space on my desktop and is actually a nice accessory --- it looks really cool just sitting there! Plus another wire is out of my life!

Pairing with my iMac was extremely quick and easy. The iMac "found" it almost immediately.

The top keys are different now but I think their functionality as been improved.

I hardly ever used the number pad anyway so I don't miss its presence.

Packaging was stylish as always but seems more minimalist now. I guess Apple is getting greener =)

I recommend getting a Keyboard cover skin for it. I hardly know it's there and it protects the keyboard from dirt, spillage, and cat hair.

Customer Review: Some erratic battery readings, but that won't stop me from loving this guy
Summary: 5 Stars

I never thought I would love a keyboard or even find one to be particularly appealing as I do this one. Having become accustomed to its small size, all 'regular' keyboards now seem irritatingly, superfluously large. I like the metal finish; it feels sturdy. This is also my first wireless keyboard, and it is surprisingly almost as pleasing as moving to a wireless mouse--very much so! Death to all wires!

My one bad experience: the battery level reading has been fluctuating between below 20% and above 40% for the past several days, and I've only had the keyboard for about a month. I move the keyboard around quite often--perhaps the batteries are not making good contact with the sensor to give a proper reading? Nevertheless, the batteries seem to be lasting far below the advertised up-to-9 months. But if it costs a pair of AA's a month to operate this talented lad and further liberate me from oppression by wires, then so be it!

I've changed the batteries and will update when I see if the battery life fares any better. Take note of Microsoft's new Arc keyboard--it looks suspiciously like a poor man's imitation of the Apple wireless keyboard.

My Apple brethren, we will never be suppressed! Steve Jobs, Our Great Leader, lead us well in this new era of rule!

Customer Review: How I use this keyboard with Vista
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great keyboard. The small size and key layout are identical to my macbook, which I like. The main reason I got this keyboard was for the relative silence it provides while typing. I write software from home for a living, and I had a clackety-clack logitech keyboard that irritated everybody through the day and, most especially, through the night. After much research I settled on this keyboard. I'm not disappointed.

For windows users, this keyboard works fine on Vista. I plugged in a bluetooth dongle, turned on the keyboard, and added it as a bluetooth device, no problems. The keyboard is missing a lot of standard functionality, like page up/down, home/end, delete, ctrl+alt+delete, etc... But you can find third-party tools to help. The one I use is AutoHotkeys. Here's the blog post that got me started: http://www.kudzuworld.com/blogs/tech/20080101.ru.aspx. I have a script run when the computer starts.

One other note: you'll need to keep a wired keyboard around if you ever need to get into BIOS. It seems the bluetooth connection doesn't kick in until the operating system boots up. For this reason, if I had to do it again, I think I'd get the wired version so I could skip all this bluetooth nonsense. But as far as the wireless goes, it works great!
