not sure why ppl are complaining that this doesn't have a cable with it like apple sells it. your ipod comes with a cable! i needed one for a 2nd generation ipod shuffle. it is being given as a gift to someone who doesn't have a computer. i did not want to pay $29 for it from apple. so i got 2, from mygift.com for $18.37 w/shipping. it works perfectly with the shuffle.
the 2nd one is for my husband's ipod touch. i can't complain on the price and the shipping was worth it. i ordered it on saturday, it shipped on saturday and arrived on monday! i live in MA and the packaged was sent from WA state. it made it clear across the country in 2 days. i'm amazed.
it would have cost me $58 plus shipping to buy 2 of these from apple with the usb cables (which i so don't need another one of those). so i save myself over $40.
btw - these are the green dot ones (from mygift.com). so they are the good ones. i wouldn't risk buying one of those elcheapo ones that have reviews on them frying ipods. this is perfect for me.
ps - these look like they are cheap to make. it is upsetting that apple quit putting adapters in with the ipods like they used to. they are getting greedy and charging an extra $29 (with the 2nd cable that you don't need)
for one. like we aren't spending enough on the ipods. it's ridiculous. luckily my nano works with the adapter my original ipod came with but my husband's new touch won't charge on either of the old ones we have, hence i had to buy a 2nd one. luckily i found it cheaper on mygift. i'm sure in a couple of years this one won't work with the newer ipods and the cycle begins again.

This is exactly how its described. A adapter to convert USB input into something that can be plugged in.
I don't see how the past reviewers said there is no cable. Well, of course not! Even apple store doesn't send a cable with this product. Its just a Adapter! Most likely you would have the cable that came with your ipod!
Also, make sure you are getting the green dot version. The non-green version was recalled by Apple and if you get it, I think you still can get a replacement from Apple (search online for the form), but I'm not sure.
The one thing I want to write is that weather or not you get the Apple branded adapter, just know that any adapter would work. Yes, even a $2 one! You just have to make sure the output is 5v or some of the newer iPods won't charge (e.g. Touch 2g). Yes, it takes more knowledge by the user to know what input/outputs are required by the adapter, but at least you aren't getting taken by buying a Apple branded $20 accessory that should only cost $2.
That being said, this is the apple version, and works as described. Don't expect more than a simple adapter and you won't be disappointed.
Customer Review: I'm glad the prongs don't fold down

The previous Apple power adapters I've had came with the prongs that fold down into the adapter, and I hated them because I always had issues with them. They seemed prone to longevity problems within the first few months of owning them.
Not so with this Apple power adapter I got for my iPod Touch (1st gen). Its prongs are fixed and that's a plus for me. I purchased this because I was having problems charging my iPod Touch on my iMac... either it wouldn't charge, or sometimes it would even be drained further by the time I came back to check on it. I tried fiddling with the power/sleep settings to see if that helped, to no avail.
I'm very pleased with this adapter as it does what it claims it'll do: Charge my iPod Touch. No, the cord that comes with it isn't long enough for me to have it plugged into the wall and play my iPod Touch games at the same time, but my Touch is charged quickly enough that I can do without it until it's charged.
No problems so far, so I'm happy.

I almost didn't buy this adapter because of some of the negative reviews I saw here. But thank goodness I did buy it, after all. It has repaid my gamble many times over. It works much better for charging my iPod than connecting the iPod to my computer. (I think this adapter even works faster than the computer!) I can walk away and leave my iPod charging without turning on my computer. I can even leave it charging while I take a bath or go out to run errands. When I return, my iPod is charged and ready to use again. Contrary to the negative reviews I saw here, I received the genuine Apple product, with the green dot and fancy packaging. And it works as advertised. So if you are thinking of buying this product, ignore the negative reviews and go for it -- you won't regret it.Customer Review: Excelent Buying Option!!!

Few things to say about this item.
1-Portable
2-No configuration Necesary ;)
3-Apple trust (My ipods are important for me, I dont trust in other item)
4-It is made for that only for that and work, besides you can charge USB Cell Phones or PSP Too.

Son pocas las cosas que puedo decir
1-Es portable
2-No necesitas configurarle nada
3-La confianza que te da el que sea Hecho para IPOD, (como digo mis IPODs son muy importantes y no me arriesgo a cargarlos con cualquier marca y que se dañe la pila o cualquier cosa inesperada)
4-Esta hecho para eso y funciona, ademas puedes cargar celulares con conexion USB o un PSP tambien.
