Customer Review: good mouse but short cord
Summary: 4 Stars

I like the functionality but the cord is ridiculously short. 30". I had to order a usb extension cable.

Customer Review: Great design, decent comfort
Summary: 3 Stars

I initially had low expectations for the comfort of this mouse based on the true single-click Apple mice of the past, despite the design ingenuity of tilting a continuous surface to allow for optional right-click. The mouse actually fits my hand decently well, and the side buttons and scroll ball are comfortably within reach. And the cursor behaves well with this mouse.

This is likely by design, but if you right-click while both fingers are on the head of the mouse, it will not register. But if you lift your left click index finger while right-clicking, it works beautifully. If you were lazy about lifting that index finger as I was, you'll find that it enters muscle memory fairly quickly, so this won't be an ongoing issue. Still, it would have been nice not to require finger lifting.

The scroll ball turned out to be tolerable. When I first tried it out, I thought the vibration in a small scroll ball's movement felt strange because I had come from a history of Microsoft Intellimouse and Wheel Mouse Optical models with larger scroll wheels. The scroll ball gets physically stuck once a while (a little rarer) when scrolling in the down direction, and it usually corrects itself after trying to scroll the ball for a few more seconds.

I also suspect the gray ring on the bottom of the mouse collects dirt on the mousepad more easily, and it leaves dirt clumps on the mousepad surface. This was not much of a problem with other kinds of mice in the past.

The glossy surface of the mouse also turned out to be tolerable to the touch, although there are certainly more comfortable materials for the skin.

Besides the scroll ball quirk, it's otherwise a great mouse with an excellent visual design, and while there are more comfortable mice out there, this one's at least decent in that respect.

Customer Review: An improvment, but still issues
Summary: 3 Stars

I am a multi-platform graphic design student. At home I have the 3G Deathadder for my laptop running Vista and really I have not found a mouse for either system that tops it in feel. At school we use the Mighty Mouse, and before you go thinking I'm just a student you should realize I generally spend 6 hours a day on a mac using this mouse.

First for the good, it has a right click! Its about time Mac came up to the plate on this one. It really is unbearable attempting to access anything without a right click and can add an extra hour to any intense graphic design project. Second is the mini trackball on top. I love it. I wish I had one on the Deathadder or on any other mouse for that matter. It really doesn't make a difference unless you are working on details in illustrator but to be able to side scroll is very convenient.

For the bad now, the right click. I know it was on the good but it needs work. Too many times have I found myself attempting to left click and select something but instead have the secondary menu come up. It is due to the one piece top and can be frustrating. The side squeeze feature is also annoying because sometimes when you are clicking and dragging it will read as a squeeze and the separated windows will pop up. As another minor thing the cable is about a foot long and very stiff so don't expect to dock your macbook and use this without an extension.

So in the end as a comparison to the G3 Deathadder I would suggest the Deathadder if you are using it for surfing or for anything minus detailed adobe use. If you are a mac head then this article probably wont change your mind.
