Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple Mighty Mouse KitCustomer Review: Apple Mighty Mouse With Cord Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered this Apple Mighty Mouse (with cord) to replace the same kind that we have been using with our Intel iMac for over 2 years now. The new Apple Mighty Mouse seems to work great. The side buttons are a tad stiffer to press; but we like that because the old mouse had side buttons that were too sensitive, and the windows were constantly slipping around the screen which was very annoying. This new mouse doesn't do that at all that we can tell. The only slight problem, is the cord that came attached to the new Mighty Mouse is stiffer as it was looped in the package, and still has bends. Sometimes there is a bend in the middle that loops up and rubs against the desk support, which interferes with mouse usage as the wire is stopped by the desk support. But this is very minor, and the wire will probably soften over time. All in all we are very happy with the new Mighty Mouse, which was shipped directly from the Apple facility in Cupertino, CA. It seems to work very well, including configuring the various buttons. This Mighty Mouse is also an updated version of our old Mighty Mouse, as it only works with newer OSX systems. Be sure to check the compatibility of this before ordering, if using with an older computer or if you haven't upgraded your OSX regularly. The price of the new mouse is very reasonable, costing only $49 which included free Super Saver Shipping. And I was not charged any sales tax, so all in all a very good deal. Shipped in a reasonable amount of time, and packaged quite nicely.
Customer Review: excellent design serves function without fluff Summary: 5 Stars
Contrary to popular cut-and-paste 'witticisms', this mouse is designed on a function-leading-form logic.
Can't find fault in this mouse, although the wireless version is a worthless and heavy device to be avoided at all costs. I use this thing all day long, every day, working with adobe products. I prefer it to 'ergonomic' designs that only allow your hand to be in one grip position. With this mouse, you can finesse it with different grips, and it weighs less - nice when brushing or moving things around rapidly.
When used with Apple's mouse control panel, you can customize or disable buttons to suit your needs. This is where most complaints are coming from - you can have two-click or one-click, and you have to know which one you are using as well as any other functions. The best thing is to turn everything off for the first day or so, then add the other functions slowly.
Final note: this mouse has teflon sliders on the bottom. The optical sensor is very sensitive. Try it out on different smooth materials. If it likes the surface, you have a great mousepad. It's best for your wrist if you get the hardest, slickest surface possible - even the actual surface of the desk will work in some cases. Once you get used to sliding this mouse around on a slick surface, you'll get in tune with an effortless way to mouse.
Customer Review: The Mighty Mouse! Summary: 5 Stars
The Apple Mighty Mouse is certainly a Love it or Hate it proposition...
After several months, this is still my favorite mouse! Apparently I love it.
I originally bought one for use on a PC, then eventually bought a Mac Pro which came with another.
I love the action and feel of the scroll wheel/ball .
OK, it has ONE fault, that being the scroll wheel ball gets dirty and stops working.
But..... Apple has a nice tutorial on their website with a Quicktime video on "How to clean your Mighty Mouse".
And it actually works! (both the cleaning procedure and the mouse)
On both Macs and PCs the "2-button" feature of this single button mouse takes a little getting used to.
It seems that there is a sensor that detects if a left finger is on the mouse, so you must raise your left finger from the mouse and click it with only your right finger for a "right-click".
For those that intend to use the Mighty Mouse on a PC, you should be aware that the Mighty Mouse cord is fairly short as it is intended to plug into an Apple Keyboard USB port. There is an extender cable in the package for those that can't or won't plug it into the keyboard. In use, the mouse pointer seems to move a bit slowly on a PC. This is easily adjusted in Windows Control Panel.
Customer Review: Works great, even for gaming. Summary: 5 Stars
The Mighty Mouse has gotten quite a bad reputation and to be quite honest I have NO idea why. The reviews are SO BAD both on Amazon and Apple's website that it actually made me wait two months to buy it. Eventually when I decided to try it out and trust Apple's design I was completely satisfied with the Mighty Mouse. If you are a gamer and play games such as World of Warcraft you can configure the buttons to do exactly what you need it to do. I have no use for the Dashboard launching as a preset mouse button so all I had to do was go into System Preferences and then to Keyboard & Mouse and turn off that preset. Simple and quick solution for me. As far as the complaint about ergonomics the Mighty Mouse works perfectly for me at my desk 10-15 hours a day. Works perfect in Final Cut Pro, World of Warcraft, Dreamweaver etc and is PERFECT for web browsing. As far as the other major complaint about the ball not working all of the time, wash your hands and everything should be ok :)
Customer Review: Mighty Mouse Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of those items that you either hate or love. In my case, a Mighty Mouse came with my computer when I bought it last year and I'm one of those who like it a lot. My wife also really likes it so I bought another one for her computer. I believe that most complaints come from the fact that it's default settings enable the extra "buttons" and with those activated it tends to be too sensitive. A slight squeeze or a little pressure to one side or the other of the nose end will activate something you may not want. Likewise a little extra pressure on the track ball may cause some unexpected action. So the first thing I did was to deactivate all secondary buttons and use it as a one button trackball mouse until I got used to it. Then I re activated a feature or two on the other buttons that I really want to use. Now both my wife and I are big fans.
