Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple MA711LL/A TV with 40GB Hard Drive [OLD VERSION]Customer Review: A media server made easy Summary: 5 Stars
The combination of AppleTV, an iTunes server, and an iPod Touch remote for the whole system has made our music and movie enjoyment much, much greater. The AppleTV/iTunes combo makes it very easy to set up a wireless media storage and playback combination through your living room home theater system.
The only slight complaint I have is that the appleTV isn't always automatically found by the remote iTunes server after a re-start, meaning I have to go through the code entry nonsense again. However, this is rare, and doesn't otherwise detract from a great system.
Oh, and 40 gigs is more than plenty if you are using an external system to stream content to the AppleTV. Otherwise, I might suggest the bigger drive.
Customer Review: Apple scores another home run. Summary: 5 Stars
I installed the Apple TV in my home theater yesterday. It took less than 5 minutes and it was up and running, dowloading the media content from my IMac G5 into its own hard drive. The HD picture quality is amazing. I am using the hdmi connection through my Pioneer receiver which has hdmi switching capability. Even so, I am also using a Radiient Technologies Automatic 4x1 hdmi switch (this switch is the best on the market though a little pricey - also available through Amazon). There are no compatibility issues.
It works seamlessly with mac computers... I don't know how it would work with a PC. This is a GREAT product. One more thing - spend the extra $100 and get the 160GB model. You'll eventually need the storage.
Customer Review: Great, 2.0! Summary: 5 Stars
If you are considering Apple TV after February 2008, you should ignore pretty much all of these reviews. The original product was very good, but lacked a bit and was somewhat overpriced. Apple TV is now more affordable with more usable features. The movie rental service is great, photos are amazing, music is easy and high quality, tv shows are ok, music videos are awesome and other features are nice as well. Everything Apple TV can do it does well. This is absolutely worth the price tag. Do not let reviews here or anywhere else talking about poor video quality get you doubting the product. On a great Samsung 32" LCD, these videos look very good. Worth it, no doubt.
Customer Review: Excellent Product Summary: 5 Stars
What a great product! I'm not the usual Apple devotee, (I'm still recovering from the time I wasted with the new 802.11n Airport Extreme - what a piece of junk) but this really is great.
In fact, I decided to give ATV a try when I returned my Airport Extreme to the Apple store. I suppose the Apple TV makes up for all of the hassle. It took less than five minutes to setup, with no problems at all. I'm back on my original 802.11g router and the video/audio streams great when I play directly from my PC. Reading the WSJ review on ATV, I think the point that this device is an 'ipod for your television' is a great description.
Highly recommended!
Customer Review: ...add Boxee and its complete! Summary: 5 Stars
AppleTV is a awesome product that allows you to watch your iTunes media on any TV that supports HDMI or Component input connections. If you do not have such connections, you will need to get a converter/adapter to an analog connection. When you add boxee (www.boxee.tv), you unlock your AppleTV's capabilities to where the sky is the limit. You can watch and listen to any media that is on any computer or NAS in your home, as well as stream video from hulu.com and other sources, music from last.fm, and share your likes and dislikes with your friends running boxee. This is a really fun and cool product and a 100 times better with Boxee.
