Customer Review: Works great on a PC (with a little work)
Summary: 5 Stars

I don't own a Mac, and have always liked the design of the Apple keyboard, especially compared to the ugly plasticky PC keyboards. I learned that out of the box most of the keys work fine on a PC, so I decided to take the plunge.

Plugging it into my Windows 7 PC, the OS immediately detected it and worked, with some minor hitches (the keys for where the alt and Windows keys are switched). For fun, I wanted to see if I could get the special keys working, namely the volume toggle where the function keys are.

It took some work, but now the keyboard works perfectly. For Windows 7 (64 bit), you need to use at least Boot Camp 3.0 to get it installed. This is true even if you were to boot camp and get it working on a Mac with the Windows 7 OS. Download the 3.1 update, then after installing 3.0 immediately install 3.1 (or else the start-up will freeze for awhile). Do that, and you have a fully functioning Mac keyboard.

Customer Review: Apple Aluminum Wired Keyboard
Summary: 5 Stars

I recently purchased an Apple Aluminum Wired Keyboard. My new iMac shipped with a wireless keyboard. That worked fine, but the batteries must be recharged and replaced every so often. I don't have time for recharging batteries and replacing them as needed. Plus, the wired keyboard has a numeric pad. I make use of that numeric pad frequently. On the other hand, the wireless keyboard does not have a numeric pad. That's a big drawback for me personally. I'm not saying the wireless keyboard isn't good. In fact, the wireless keyboard makes for a less cluttered desk. That's a big plus. However, the wired keyboard with the numeric pad makes up for the additional wire on the desk with the less "clean" look. I suppose if Apple came out with a wireless keyboard with a numeric pad, I would probably buy it.

Last things, it was low cost, shipped quickly, works tres excellent, and looks cool with my wireless trackpad. Hope that helps.

Customer Review: Survived my tumbler-of-water-at-3am test
Summary: 5 Stars

Others have already said what is nice about this keyboard. The funny thing is after getting used to the shallow keys, going back to the older-standard keyboard feels like I'm on a dinosaur. Even the keys on my Dell laptop feel clunky. Last night I put it to a big test. I had a large tumbler of water in front of me, I dozed off and spilled all the water. I woke up with my Mac telling me there's a USB power overload and the device is being disconnected -- all the water spilled over the keyboard, through the bottom, onto the desk, over the edge onto power cables, etc. *Uh oh!* I disconnected the keyboard and pounded it onto the carpet to get out as much excess water as I could -- luckily the wet wires didn't short circuit anything. I put the keyboard on the back of the G5 CPU to let the warm exhaust further dry it out then went to sleep (in bed this time). When I awoke, everything was dandy and I'm typing on the keyboard now. Yay!

Customer Review: Kool Keyboard
Summary: 5 Stars

We love the look and feel, plus it's comfortable and quiet. The low-profile keys have a nice feel to them, very quiet and no fatigue from typing too long. We really enjoy using this keyboard. We were forced to buy this one since my husband spilled a glass of wine on the older one we had (our iMAC died so we bought a MAC Mini to replace it, the MAC Mini doesn't come with a monitor or keyboard, which we had already). At first we thought, oh boy this keyboard is going to cost a lot to replace, Apple's products are a bit pricey, but we were surprised this was very reasonable. Very happy with it. Thanks honey for being clumsy...

Also, the reviewer who wrote that it comes in a plain brown box (which is true) and then sent it back without opening it because he thought it wasn't from Apple (which was wrong), if he had opened the small brown box he would have found the keyboard packaged in the white Apple box ;-))

Customer Review: Brilliant Keyboard
Summary: 5 Stars

Apple really knows how to make hardware. Who would have thought that putting space between the keys means it is harder to hit two keys simultaneously? This keyboard is a dream to use. The keys have low resistance, but you still know you are typing. It's lightweight and compact, but not flimsy or weak. It gives you a solid feel--you don't feel like it's going to fall apart under your hands. And it looks good without being excessive. Typical apple style. It works perfectly on both windows and linux, although the positioning of the command key (which translates to the windows key under windows) isn't optimal for someone who is used to a windows keyboard--but that is not an impossible problem to solve.

A couple of things I have noticed, though, are that it is not backlit, which would have been nicer, and the spacebar is a little loud.

Overall, this keyboard is brilliant and worth the cost.
