Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple Aluminum Wired Keyboard MB110LL/ACustomer Review: Best keyboard I ever used Summary: 5 Stars
I write software for a living, which basically means I type all day. This is far and away my favorite keyboard ever. Just looking at it I didn't think I would like it, but it is fabulous to use. You don't have to push the keys very far or very hard, so it is great for touch typing. The tactile feedback is just right for me, and the angle of the keyboard is excellent. Of course, those are all subjective measures, so you should really try one out first before you buy one. I highly recommend giving this keyboard a try, however.
With Mac OS X 10.5 you can choose to have the function keys act as function keys by default, and do their special functions only with the fn key held down, or you can reverse that behavior. I no longer have a problem with some keys erroneously repeating, unlike older Apple keyboards. Finally, my hands are on the oily side, which makes keyboard keys attract dirt pretty quickly. I've been using this keyboard for several weeks and it still looks new.
Customer Review: Quiet, beautiful, sleek, perfect Summary: 5 Stars
I got this to use at work to replace my Logitech multimedia keyboard. I already use this same (Bluetooth version) at home and love the way the keys feel and how quiet it is. I do a lot of Unix DNS stuff so there are a lot of repetitive keystrokes that drive co-workers and myself crazy with all that click click clicking. This keyboard is so quiet I feel better knowing I'm not making a ruckus (minor, but hey, that sort of thing is important to me).
I'm using it on a Mac Mini running OSX10.5 and Windows XP (via Parallels) as well as through a 48 port KVM switch for the servers here and it works great with all OS's. Very small footprint. I would have gotten another BT version but for work I really need the numeric keypad. I recommend this for any computer, any OS. Keys can be mapped for anything so just because it's "Apple" doesn't mean it should be stuck with only other Apple products. I may get another for my Cube at home which is using the previous Apple 'white' keyboard.
Customer Review: A beautiful keyboard? Yes!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Prior to the Apple wired keyboard I was using the Logitech Wave wired keyboard for a few days. I enjoyed the Wave keyboard (you can read my review of it on Amazon), however I was not a fan of its size or loud keys.
To match my Mac setup I went for the wired keyboard and am very happy with my purchase. The keys makes far less noise and are very quiet. Something you can take for granted once you use a louder keyboard. Looks wise, you won't find a more beautiful keypad. Aluminum and white keys are just stunning. This is a perfect match for my Apple cinema display and white JBL spot speakers. It is slim and rid of all the bulk provided by the Wave keyboard. I use this keyboard in conjunction with a Imak ergobead wristpad (I highly recommend the combo!). I also opted for the wired keyboard because the wireless one runs on batteries and has no numerical pad. Both deal breakers for me. Plus the wire can barely be seen with my computer setup, so it's a no brainer.
Customer Review: Much better than I expected Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered this along with a new trackball (figured I'd give it a try as a friend who has been using one for years swears by it) and a laptop stand.
It is very well built, not flimsy at all despite its thinness. The keyboard was very easy to get used to and I love having the numeric keypad. The keypad is why I chose this over the wireless (and more expensive) version.
I have not really needed the two USB ports, but it's to have them if I do.
Lastly, I had it delivered at work. I am a software developer in a[..]shop. The first thing I did was take it out of the box, walk over to a coworker's machine and plug it into an open port on the front. After a minute of Windows going through it's detection process, it was ready to use and worked flawlessly. No drivers to manually install and the Command key mapped as the Windows key. For those of you thinking of getting a Mac, this an inexpensive way to get started.... :-)
Customer Review: Great Keybaord Summary: 5 Stars
First of all, let me start off by saying that I normally hate these thin, laptop style keyboards. I always find that they are way too cramped and uncomfortable to type on. When it comes to the Apple Keyboard, This is not the case. Even though they Keyboard itself is incredibly thin, It uses full size keys that are generously spaced apart making the keybaord very comfortable to type on.
Pro's:
-Extremely small footprint
-Stylish
-Full size keys, does not feel like a laptop keyboard
-KVM Friendly (contrary to other reviews I had no problem hooking this up to my KVM)
-2 USB Ports
-Design makes it almost impossible for dirt to get stuck in between the keys.
-Requires no drivers (both in windows and OSX)
Con's
-Does take some getting used to
-The USB ports are not powered, forget about hooking up Flash drives or any other device which requires power from the USB port.
