Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple Aluminum Wired Keyboard MB110LL/ACustomer Review: Cool to look at, easy to use and great value... Summary: 5 Stars
I got this keyboard for use with my Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop and an external monitor. In all respects, this is an excellent keyboard, since the keys are well laid out and it is easy to get the hang of using it in a short period of time. Yes, it is also "cool" to look at, but also very functional. What is also nice is that it includes two USB ports and thereby functions as a USB hub.
The only very minor issue I have with this keyboard, as with any Apple keyboard, is that there is no "Insert" key. This is not an issue when you use it with Mac OS/X, but it does pose an minor pique for those using their Macs with Windows (either when running Windows installed on the Mac or when running a Windows Remote Desktop session). I found out that the insert key is either the "Fn" key or "Fn" + "return" keys, depending on the Windows application you are using.
Overall, I'm glad I purchased this keyboard.
Customer Review: Nearly perfect keyboard Summary: 5 Stars
To my tastes, a numpad-free keyboard is preferable, since this allows the alphabetical part of the keyboard to be centered in front of you. (This is especially nice if you're right-handed; otherwise, the mouse gets in the way.) Apple's latest wireless keyboard has this feature (or lack of feature?).
Having said that, this is a simple, elegant keyboard with a good tactile feel. Some people will miss the thick, old-fashioned keys of the previous-generation "Pro" keyboard. But I enjoy the consistency of a keyboard that feels the same as my MacBook, since I alternate between the two frequently. This is a truly slim, light keyboard that you can take with you anywhere. I use it in conjunction with an mStand and wireless Mighty Mouse to convert my laptop into a comfortable desktop machine without the need for an external display.
Customer Review: Finally, a keyboard worthy of Apple Summary: 5 Stars
I just stared using this keyboard, but I already love it. It's a great update to the old Mac keyboard, and it's about time that Apple put some of their design smarts on their keyboard!
I thought it would be hard to get used to, but it isn't. I enjoyed using it right out of the box.
Pros:
+ The shallow keys lessen the movement and pressure required to type, which reduces fatigue and repetitive stress
+ Design leaves little room for dirt / debris to get into the keyboard
+ It's really quiet
+ It's really small, but the keys are full size and well spaced.
Cons:
+ As with all Macintosh keyboards, there are several important Windows buttons which are missing (such as the print screen, right click, break, scroll lock, and number lock buttons). I found a nice, free Windows utility to help with this problem though: SharpKeys. This utility allows you to remap your keys and use the extra function keys for the ones that are missing.
Customer Review: The Apple Aluminum Keyboard - Good Different! Summary: 5 Stars
The Apple Aluminum Keyboard is a complete redesign of the traditional Apple Keyboard, and is shipping with all new Mac computers. The Keyboard is stylish, solid and nicely made.
I originally bout this for use with a PC mostly because of its compact size. I later bought a Mac Pro which came with the traditional Apple Keyboard.
Here's what I've noticed about the Apple Aluminum Keyboard:
1- Apple changed the layout of the keys. This might annoy users of traditional Apple Keyboards.
2- The keyboard is well made with good "Feel". However, there are no adjustments for height or angle. As a result I had to reposition my keyboard shelf upwards for comfortable typing.
3- This keyboard works with a PC but most of the Apple specific keys are unsupported. The Cloverleaf key works as the "Windows Logo" key.
As with any keyboard you should try one out before you buy one. I like mine a lot but sometimes switch back to the traditional Apple keyboard.
Customer Review: A very very nice keyboard! Summary: 5 Stars
At first, I was apprehensive about this keyboard. The form factor looked very nice, but the keys looked funny.
Regardless, I decided to take the plunge and go for one.
When I got it, I was extremely impressed with the overall build quality of the keyboard. It's built like a tank and is very firm (i.e doesn't flex). The keys are very large. And after couple of hours of orientation, I noticed my typing speed increase by a bit on it.
This is a touch typists dream and very fast to type on and extremely silent.
There are 2 low power USB ports on the keyboard (on either side) that can be used for plugging in mice. I haven't tried that but I assume that it would work fine.
One interesting thing to note, is that this keyboard does not work before the OS is loaded. What I mean is that if you wanted to go into your BIOS (F2 in my case) it would not register any key presses. Only once the OS is loaded then everything works fine.
