Customer Review: Awesome Dorm Room!
Summary: 5 Stars

With almost all college students using laptops these days, this makes for one amped up dorm room. It is so easy to set up with both macs and pcs, and printing wirelessly is so nice. Yes, this is a true sign of laziness that I would rather not get up and walk across the room to plug in my laptop and then print, but it is so much more convienent to just hit print.

The only cord I ever have to plug in my computer is the power cord, which makes for a far less cluttered desk and makes the laptop even more portable.

The other slot in the bottom of this is intriguing - the speaker slot. Over the summer, I decided to buy the Bose Companion 3 speaker set over the Soundock, and with the Airport Express, this was a really good move - I get twice the sound at less cost and still, only the power cord goes into the computer!

And of course, this is wonderful to provide a wireless network to me in my dorm room, as the university does not provide wireless in my dorm. I love how easy the controls are to set so that others do not take advantage of my wireless!

Customer Review: The Future of wireless home networking.
Summary: 5 Stars

Apple has provided us with another new ground breaking networking device: the Airport Express. This 802.11g device can function as a router and perform wireless bridging via its wireless distribution system (WDS), with other Airport Expresses (or the older Airport Extremes Base Station), and with some non-Apple devices too. However, unlike most routers/ access points the Express features a USB print server for Wi-Fi printing, and a Optical / analogue audio port. It is the latter feature that is exciting, as it allows you to connect the Express to your stereo or speaker set, via Airtunes (that is built into iTunes and they Express' Firmware). Music streaming features lossless data compression, so no media quality is lost from the iTunes source (e.g. MP3 or Apple Lossless Format to name but two). The Express is highly portable, so throw it in your case, and take it on the road. You can set up multiple network profiles for this device, allowing quick configuration on the go. Finally, the Express is fully compatible with PCs. You can't go wrong with this groundbreaking Wi-Fi device.

Customer Review: Beautiful, small, fulfills so many desires
Summary: 5 Stars

I highly recommend the Airport Express. It is fantastic sending a wireless signal to the stereo (via the Airport Express) from iTunes. I listen to radio from all over the world, through my nice stereo and speakers. Fantastic!

Also, don't you hate having your bulky, ugly printer on your desk, when you only use it once a week or month? With the Airport Express, you can stick it in a cabinet, out of view, and wirelessly print to it. Also, everyone in the house or office with WiFi can send stuff to the same printer, wirelessly.

To top it off, the design is beautiful and small - no giant power brick on a 12 foot cable, no goofy antenna (or two).

Give it a try. You won't be dissappointed. By the way, to avoid 2.4Ghz (et. al.) interference, use the Airport Admin Utility to change the channel (between 1 and 12) - this worked for me. Note: I had to cahnge it three times to find a channel without interference, but it only took my about 5-7 minutes total and that's what you get living in an urban area.

Cheers!

Customer Review: wandering and browsing
Summary: 5 Stars

I share an apartment with a roommate and we spent some time discussing how we would handle internet access. Then we realized that we both had laptops with wireless cards. The apartment is a bit too small for a base station so I ran out and grabbed an Airport Express. After about fifteen minutes of working my way through the instructions, the network was up. There have been a couple of times when the network went down (I'm not sure whether it was my service or the Express) but a restart always worked and I there have been no problems in the past couple months.

My roommate and I now have internet access without getting in each other's way, while listening to each other's iTunes libraries. I can wander about my apartment and balcony without interrupting my Yahoo Messenger discussions, and have my printer hooked up for wireless printing for when I'm typing on the living room sofa. I really can't think of anything else I want out of this product, and that's the highest compliment I can give.

Customer Review: Great, once you get it set up...
Summary: 5 Stars

I use XP Pro, and had to get it to connect to an existing wireless router (D-Link). Apple's instructions are certainly made with a focus on style over substance, because while pretty, there is essentially no instruction on what to do if the setup assistant doesn't work. Needless to say, mine didn't.

That said, the Apple website has a forum with messageboards for their products and there are people there who will answer you questions when things don't go correctly (i believe it is discussions.info.apple.com). Once I found that, I had no problem getting it up and running.

Once you get your Airport Express set up, you will immediately realize how worth it the trouble is. Amazing is the only word to describe it. Connect it to your stereo, hit play on iTunes, and you've got your entire library of music at your fingertips anywhere around your house, assuming you have a notebook. Since finishing the setup and seeing the light go green, I haven't had a hitch. HIGHLY recommended.
