Customer Review: A little flaky

I bought two of these units. Both worked as advertised, but the software was flaky. I since have updated the software which seems to work better now.
The 400 ft spec is a joke, it won't even work reliably over 30 ft and not at all if a wall is in the way. It works really well up to 30 ft away if open air between.
Every so often, the computer to bluetooth connection is dropped and requires replugging the unit to recover. I am not certain which part of the system is failing - I suspect the software. There should be some sort of reset on the dongle.
I use the dongle for connecting to the internet with my bluetooth cellphone. I get pretty good connectivity and I would prefer some form of broadband, but it is too expensive. I get twice normal dial-up speeds with pretty consistent service. Downloading anything big is zippo.
