This notebook cooler is the first I've ever purchased, so I can't compare it to others, but it does help cool the laptop. It's not a significant drop in heat, only minor, but it rests comfortably on my lap keeping me cool, which is half the battle. When doing something like encoding videos, it helps a lot.
The construction is good except for a couple of things. The place where the power cable plugs into the cooler seems like it might come loose or break eventually, but it's held up fine so far. Also, there is a little compartment on the underside of the cooler that is supposed to hold the power cable when not in use. The little door on my cooler won't stay on. It doesn't really bother me because I just leave the cable plugged into the notebook all the time.
And the blue power indicator light is pretty bright, but I think it's kind of cool. All in all, I think this a good item to have for laptops that get a little hot. But it your laptop gets extremely hot, I don't know if this would cool it down very much.

this cooler is great my laptop remains only slightly warm even after hours of gaming. the cooler is very quiet on low and makes a little noise on high setting, this noise s due to the airflow not the fans themselves showing a nice flow of air form the cooler. the usb cord could be better but if your careful with it it will last.

-pulls air away from laptop which i believe is more efficient(at least for my laptop it is)
-two speed settings both low and hi cool well.(i'm using macbook pro its an aluminum unibody so any airflow helps cool well plastic laptops may need more airflow)
-tip: make sure your laptop does not suck in air from the bottom. if it does buy something else.

This is the first notebook cooler I've ever used, so I don't really have anything to compare it to, but it works really well. I use my laptop with it sitting on my bed more often than on my lap or on a desk, and I've noticed it gets really hot when I've used it for a long period of time while it usually only gets a little bit warm when using it on my lap. One time it got so hot that it completely shut off. Luckily I wasn't working on anything important because I lost everything I was doing. So when I saw this as a gold box deal, I decided it was worth a try.
It works really great. If I'm not using it and my computer gets hot, I plug it in and it only takes a minute or so for it to cool off on the high setting. If I have it plugged in to begin with on the low setting, it doesn't get hot at all. I also like that you can plug another USB thing into it. And it's really quiet.
I got it at about half price with the gold box deal, but having used it, I definitely think it's worth the full price.

This is the first time I've ever written a review for any product and all I have to say is that I'm VERY pleased with this purchase. I had nearly given up on my laptop after only owning it for one year. It was repeatedly overheating and shutting down whenever I watched a movie online or ran multiple programs at once. The manufacturer recommended a bios update which I did but that did not ultimately solve my problem. I ordered this product upon other recommendations and I'm happy to say that they were right. My computer has been running 110% better since I began using this product. It is well-built and affordable. Even if I have to purchase another one in the next 6 months it will be worth the money but so far so good. I move my computer from room to room 3-4 times per day because of the nature of my job and the wear and tear on the cord has been minimal. I do not foresee any problems with that as someone else had mentioned. Anyway, great value, great buy! I got this as a gift before I deployed to Iraq. Never using a laptop cooler in the past, I really didn't think this was that big of a deal. But soon after we got to Iraq, our military Dell computers started dying. Quickly realizing the extremely fine dust there was killing them, we started aggressively spraying canned air to keep the fans cleaned out. That still wasn't enough as temperatures often hit 120 or more. I started using my Antec laptop cooler and never had a problem with my laptop. I could tell it was working because the keyboards of the other laptops would get extremely hot, but mine would always be cool to the touch. Plus I know this thing was moving some serious air, because I had to blow the dust out of it at least weekly, and what came out was a small dust storm! Even with the great cooling, you never knew it was there. It was ultra quiet and I'd highly recommend this to anyone who might be using their laptop in an extreme environment or temps above about 95 degrees F.
