Customer Review: Does the Job Well
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a one year old laptop that I've been using for work. When I run another OS on the internal disc drive, it heats up my laptop considerably. I want this machine to last longer, so I decided to invest in a laptop cooler. Word of mouth is that this Antec is the best for your money if you have a modest budget to work with.

I've been using it for about a month now and I'm impressed with it. Setting it up was as easy as plugging it into a free usb port and then plunking the laptop on top of it. It has two fan speeds; I use the higher speed when I'm logging into my alternative OS and the regular speed for normal computing. My laptop stays nice and cool. The cooler comes with optional rubber buttons that you can use to ensure that the laptop doesn't slide around on top of the device. Even if you forgo the buttons, using this device will change the physical profile of your rig a bit, so if you've already got your desk or stand situated for ideal height, expect to adjust it after setting up the cooler. There is a glowing blue light that comes on to let you know the cooler is on and running. If it bugs you, you can easily cover it with a piece of tape.

Bottom line: if you can snap this up at the sale price, do it. It's as good as you've heard.

Customer Review: Recommended for any XBOX 360
Summary: 5 Stars

My Xbox 360 seemed liked it was starting to overheat. Microsoft wanted to charge me $99 to repair it. After looking at intercoolers (and finding that the design was flawed and actually WORSE for my Xbox), I started looking at laptop coolers. I purchased the Antec, received it quickly, and have had it in use for about a week. I recommend this product to everyone with an Xbox. My console has stopped having all overheating problems (unreadable disc, slow load times, etc.) It fits perfectly underneath. The concave curve of the pad even fits the curve of the Xbox and it looks like it is part of it. It keeps the Xbox very cool and is easy to set up. One problem is that on the USB power cord, there is another cord that comes out of the side. As a result you end up losing a USB slot. But, it allows you to piggyback another USB onto it, so you end up with one usable USB slot on the front of your Xbox. As several other reviewers have stated, the power light on the side it very bright. Also, if you use this for your Xbox it will not turn off automatically when you turn off your console, but it is quiet if you leave it on. Overall, this is the best accessory I have bought for my Xbox and as a result, my overworked Xbox will probably last significantly longer.

Customer Review: FINALLY!!! This is the cooler for you!... sort of...
Summary: 5 Stars

After owning a Targus cooler, and a Belkin cooler (check my 1 star reviews of those), I decided I'd give the cooler thing one last go. My laptop gets HOT... like burn your thighs hot.

My Targus lasted about 2 weeks, my Belkin cooler lated about 1 week. [...]

It is much more sturdy than the Targus or Belkin. It's build feels more sturdy and well built. The other two mentioned above feel like they cost about 30 cents to make. Very cheap.

I've had this unit for almost 3 months and still its going strong. The airflow is several times better than the Targus and the Belkin combined.

It has a Dual USB plug in... so you plug it in, and the plugin itself has a USB connection, so you don't lose a USB slot from using it.

I would say the only quip I have with it is a bright blue LED on light. No way to turn it off. I thought about covering it with black tape but I've found I don't really notice it.

Geek tested and

Update....

Well, mine finally broke. Well, at least it wasn't a complete fan failure like Targus and Belkin... the USB power cord broke. This will be a simple fix, and the unit will be up and running again in no time.

Customer Review: Efficient, Durable and Looks Great!
Summary: 5 Stars

Both my sons and I own one of these laptop coolers and we all LOVE them. I bought one because of the reviews I'd read on all the websites (CNet,CompUSA,Circuit City)of this item. I also read the reviews of similar products before I chose this one. Other products just did not stand up to this one and I agree. The product does exactly what it is supposed to do--cool your laptop. I never turn mine off if my notebook is on, so is the cooler. Even if you are gaming, the cooler keeps your notebook cool enough that its internal fans don't kick on. It looks cool, too. I use it 8-12 hours per day, everyday and often longer. I haven't had any problems with it or the USB cable/cord, which has a pass through USB, so you don't use one up. If you want to cool your notebook, this is the best choice. Think of it as insurance for your notebook. Bonus is that it elevates your laptop a bit for easier usuage (I think) and it has large rubber pads on each 'corner' so it is non-skid on a surface. On your lap works, too. Keeps your legs/lap much cooler. I don't think the fans are very loud, either. You can hear them, but it is not obnoxious or invasive.
I purchased mine for $20 each on sale and am purchasing another as a Christmas gift to go with a new laptop.

Customer Review: Antec USB-Powered Cooler - Excellent
Summary: 5 Stars

I finally found a cooler that works and is sturdy! Yes, the cord is on the left hand side while many USB ports are on the back right of computers - but you can turn the cooler around -- the fans are in the middle so it doesn't matter if you flip it. There is a blue 'ON' light that glows across the room when you're in a dark room but you can cover that with tape like another reviewer mentioned (unless you need to send a Bat signal...). I've gone thru so many coolers that either were flimsy and the fans would grind against the casing, the switch was on the cord and broke off (thankfully while ON), had an awkward angle, didn't cool the laptop properly or just plain hurt while on my lap (metal folding ones are awful).

This Antec cooler has rubber feet on top of the unit which leaves space in between your computer and the cooler so it functions properly. Your computer will not slide around which was important for me with a 17" laptop as well as the comfort of the cooler on my lap which is where I usually have it. I can keep my computer on for 8 hours or more and it remains cool. $17 or $18 is a terrific price for this quality product that is well worth more. If you're tired of coolers that don't work, you have to get this one.
