Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Antec Two Hundred Cost-Efficient Mid-Tower Gaming CaseCustomer Review: Shipping 1, Customer 0 Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great case, eagerly awaited. Unfortunately, I'll be waiting a bit longer - the box that arrived (while the UPS delivery van disappeared down the street), had a large ding in it. Amazon had used the manufacturer's box with no additional packaging. While the actual case is encased in styrofoam ends, these were insufficient to protect it - the left side door, at the rear edge, had a very sharp ding it it. Now, the case is NOT titanium, but it's not tin foil either. A standard, solid sheet metal. So considerable force would be required to make such a ding. Enough force to knock out the rear default I/O panel. Yes, I would have removed it anyway, but I'd prefer to do it MYSELF.
As to the case itself, looks very functional. Cable channel to the side of the 6 hard drive cage makes a convenient place to run wires and stash any extra ones. I'm planning on using this as a windows server, so the 6 drive capability was what I was looking for. Power supply is mounted on the bottom, which aids stability. The front loading SATA hot-swap drive caddy (for a naked hard drive) is a VERY nice touch. The 2 included fans are "exhaust"; adding an intake fan in front of the hard drive cage (as stated, room for 2) should provide very nice airflow. Antec does recommend their own 120mm Antec TriCool 120mm DBB case fan with 3-Spd switch (sold by Amazon) for any additional fans - the ability to select fan speed vs noise a nice touch. 7 expansion slots in back should provide plenty of room for extras.
Both side doors removable. Large CPU cutout allows putting in a cpu cooler without removing the motherboard. Hard drives are SCREWED in, no easy mounts here. But how often are you really going to have to add/remove, especially with the hot-swap one available? Given both doors come off, using screws not a problem.
Given the damage on arrival, never got to use the case, but it looks like there's plenty of room to build in. If you google, there are some great reviews of this case.
Just a shame about the shoddy packing/shipper.
Note: On the positive side, using the "Contact Amazon Call Me" feature worked great, customer service rep answered within a minute. The usual apologies, but what's important was a replacement was immediately ordered, with a return label (free return shipping) provided. So all I had to do was pack the box off to a UPS office and now wait another week. Just glad this was for ME, not a gift.
