I've never purchased AmazonBasics brand before ~ I was surprised at the quality of this product. It's very well made ~ the quality of the product was obvious right away.
What do I use it for? I use it when I'm charging my phone or iPod. The added length makes things much more convenient for me because I'm not bound to the wall by some ridiculously short 3ft cord.

I got two of these to compensate for short cords on my webcams. I first tried some cheapo ones that I got off ebay from China. Well, that result was fairly predictable. But these Amazon branded cords can be seen immediately as a high quality product; I was very surprised by the quality vs. price. I needed to connect to my computer's USB port from across my living room, so I bought two of these cords and daisy-chained them to make a 20-foot extension. Works perfectly. The cords are sturdy, and the plating on the connector is excellent quality. If you buy a cord like this in a store, it will cost $20. So many of the products in this class (connectors and cables for electronics) are grossly over-priced and come in blister packs that can only be opened with hedge trimming shears. What a delight it was to find this amazon-labeled product. We use our flat-screen TV as a monitor, but control from the couch was an issue. I extended the USB mouse receiver with this cable and ran it under my coffee table. Now, instead of reducing control or effective distance within a few days, the single AA battery lasts weeks. Same distance advantage for my hard-wired keyboard. Works great.
