I don't write a lot of reviews, but I was impressed by the quality / cost of this cable. So often the adage 'you get what you pay for' stops me from buying many things, but I needed this cable and am so glad I took a chance on it. I wanted a USB extension cable for my new stereo in my car and wanted to add the extension while I had the head unit out to install a bluetooth module and a back-up camera. I thought I would just pick up the cable locally but had a hard time finding one. When I did finally locate one it was $20!! I decided to use the only one I had on my PC and shop for a replacement online. So, I ordered this cable from Amazon and was very happy when I opened the box and found a high quality cable with gold plated connectors and heavy gauge wire. You can tell from the moment you pick it up that it is a high quality cable, not a cheap wire that may or may not last. AND I got it for less that $5!!

Needless to say, cables are usually cables right? Wrong! So wrong! There are different qualities and grades of cables. Some cables you purchase with big bulky retail packaging and the ends look nice and shiny, yet the cable material is thin and frail and one wrong trip or it gets stuck on the chair or ran over by your office chair and you need a new cable.
This cable impressed me when I took it out of the environmentally friendly brown box. It was wrapped in a generous circular shape, not squeezed into a small shape like you see so often in retail packaging which just adds to the stress of the cable. The material feels fantastic, the cable is flexible enough so you know the wires are not getting crimped inside. The cable IS in fact GOLD PLATED. A cable like this in retail stores would go for well over $10 and on Amazon it was just under 5 bucks for an almost 10 foot cable. What a fantastic deal for such a quality cable.
I used the cable to extend my web cam cable and it transmits the video fabulously.
About a month later when I finally put it to good use, I decided to go back online and order two more cables of the exact same type because they can be used for anything "USB" (flash drive extension, wireless receiver extension, web cam extension, printer extension, scanner extension etc.) as long as you don't go over the recommended maximum length of approximately 16 feet. (Not recommended from Amazon, just a USB standard due to the cable gauges. You can find professional cables that are meant to extend further than 16 feet)
I never knew I could write so much about a cable, but thank you Amazon for providing such a quality cable at an affordable price. Even better... I have Amazon Prime and free two day shipping!

This is an excellent quality USB A extension cable. Both the Female and Male end plugs are VERY solid and the male end plugs in firmly to standard USB ports on your PC. The cable itself is a rubberlike material that feels very waterproof and strong. I put a tape on it and mine is 10 Feet 3 inches long. The female end is a fully reinforced usb port for you to plug your charging, gaming or data cable into.
I have used it to connect several items to the PC in order to charge AND transfer data successfully. Remember, this is an EXTENSION, (like others have said) you need your original charge/data cable for your device, then you connect that cable to this cable and then you connect this cable to your USB A port on your PC. I have now connected and charged and transfered data on my IPOD Nano Version 4, My Samsung Captivate, my wifes Droid X. My evidence is that is works as intended and is an EXCELLENT product. There were no glitches or pauses.
It's a 10 feet long USB Extension cable that is perfect for its intended use!
OK.... I have to ask why people spend so much money for cords like this at a retail store like Worst Buy??? I have many Amazon Basics cables from HDMI cables to this USB extension...all work perfectly and cost substantially less than the $69 they want on the corner store.... Just Review: Cables That Work
Summary: 5 Stars The AmazonBasics USB 2.0 Extension Cable comes in real handy for extending a shorter USB cable. I have used it on my printer, scanner, and other peripherals and found no noticeable degradation of signals. I like the gold-plated ends since the gold-plating protects the contacts from corrosion and ensures that I'll always have a reliable connection.
Be aware that USB extension cables do not necessarily work with devices that don't have an external power source. It's a matter of trial-and-error.
For example, the USB extension failed to work with my RF wireless dongle. (I was trying to extend the roaming distance between my wireless keyboard and my desktop computer.) However, it works flawlessly with all of my devices that supply their own power (printer, scanner, etc.).
Amazon's frustration free packaging is wonderful; the package opens easily so you don't have to wrestle with difficult-to-open blister packages.

I bought this to extend the length of my existing PlayStation 3 DualShock controller cable. I prefer going wireless with my controller, but when the battery runs down the only way to charge it is to plug in the Sony-supplied cable. Unfortunately, that cable was too short for me to sit back in my chair away from the TV, so I always had to quit playing until it charged. I bought this cable to extend the original controller cable's length, not as a replacement.
This AmazonBasic's USB extension cable is a good a quality cable for a low price, and the "frustration-free packaging" means the box the cable comes in is also the box it's shipped in. It works perfectly for the purpose I bought it: extending the length of PS3 Dualshock controller cable, allowing me to continue playing while charging the battery.
