This is almost a perfect cover for the kindle DX.
It makes the kindle into a book. You open the cover and read.
Pros:
- I love the way it attaches securely to the kindle at the spine, instead of elastic or tabs or whatever.
- The cover folds back out of the way when reading.
- The inside of the cover is soft and padded to protect the display.
- It has magnets built in at strategic places to hold the cover closed.
Cons:
- it is pricey
- sometimes when holding the kindle upside down, you can try to open the wrong side.
I really like it.

I am so glad I bought the Kindle cover for my DX. The clips that hold it in place are great, the magnet that holds it closed is great, and the cover turns all the way back which is great.
While listening to audio books in the car, I hook the Kindle up to my car stereo system, start the book, close the cover and lay it on the floor. Thanks to the cover I don't have to worry about it getting scratched.
The cover also gives a better grip when you are carrying the Kindle. Otherwise it is rather slippery and I would be afraid of dropping it.
I highly recommend this cover for the Kindle DX.

Considering the price, I really studied the reviews for this and other covers before making my purchase. Here are the features which helped me decide and which didn't disappoint:
It was simple to lock in place.
The invisible magnets keep the cover in place, keep it closed.
It folds back on itself nicely.
The felt backing on the inside cover is nice.
It looks and smells great.
Carry the Kindle with cover into a meeting and others think you're just carrying a notebook. Remember to hold a pen in your hand while you're reading so you don't give yourself away....

The cover is good and is nice to protect and make the KindleDX more book-like. At first I was worried that I wouldn't be able to fold the cover around to hold the Kindle in one hand.. but it folds back all the way without putting any stress on the clips or the Kindle. The Amazon.com logo is okay and if you get in the habit of feeling for it before opeining it.. it keeps you from trying to open it the wrong way (which some have said doing so will hurt the clip points of the Kindle).. overall pleased with it. I was recommending this leather cover to a friend and while copying the link thought I'd check out the reviews. I couldn't believe all the negative reviews, I think this is a great product. I've been using my Kindle DX with cover for a month now and everything is as pristine as on day one. I had no trouble attaching the cover to the Kindle and I have removed it a couple of times. It's easy to tell the front because of the Kindle Logo and so I have not tried to open it from the back. I fold the top cover to the back and hold just one piece while reading. Used properly this is a great product.
