This new gadget arrived today. For a long-time short wave listener, this is the perfect device. Gives access to all the usual stations, and easy exploration of new stations. How nice to know immediately, from the display, what you have tuned in.
Less than a minute after plugging it in I was listening to BBC World Service. Three hours later I've just scratched the surface of its capabilities.
Great construction quality, audio is fine, controls are intuitive, has sleep timer (I plan to have it on a bed stand) and the light is easy to turn on or off.
Some of the better entertainment dollars I've spent. Now to find a portable, go anywhere version for travel!
Later today I plugged my small 250GB hard drive with MP3s stored in it to the jack in the front of the radio. I can play any album or any track of an album. Pretty amazing!

I purchased this radio for my husband's birthday after he saw the ad in Smithsonian Magazine. He loves it and I couldn't have been more pleased. Initially we had a little problem with connectivity. I contacted Aluratek's customer service. They were very friendly and helpful. Turned out if was an issue with our wireless network configuration.
The CNET review commented on sound quality being a draw back for this item. But we have found the sound quality to be quite adequate and pleasant......afterall it's a $100 clock radio; if you want a Bose Wave Radio, you have to pay for a Bose Wave Radio!
We love the option to connect this to our component system and plug in a MP3 player. You can also select FM stations if you pefer.
If you're looking for a fun internet radio that lets you access global music and news radio, then you found it.

Here is the way to get the best use of the Aluratek Internet Radio:
1.Download the latest firmware from here and install it:

2.Now you can add stations not otherwise available. Here is how:

Windows Media player then lets you find the URL of most stations via a pls file.
(but not radio365, which does not provide URL access from internet radios )
3.Set up via the Aluretek manual to stream MP3s from your computer. If you need to convert CDs to MP3s, iTunes makes it easy.
Now you have access to most internet radio and your own music, too.
Not only that, but anyone can access all this easily.

Always wanted an internet radio with alarm functions...found it!!!...thank you Aluratek...I been using this constantly for a few weeks now...many pluses, internet radio works flawlessly...flash drives with wma/mp3 music works perfect...though no AM radio I still have my favorite AM's WINS and WFAN no problem on its internet...I fell on the floor when it picked up all my music perfectly from windows media from my wireless vista computer downstairs with no software needed in playlist/album order!!!...sound is clean/excellent for its size...minor issues...wish it had a display dimmer and picked up more FM stations without the internet using its antenna, but those it picked up came in strong...and have to let the 10 minute snooze bar time elapse as it can't be shut off until the 10 minutes is up...overall a wonderful replacement for my boring bose radio...Customer Review: Aluratek AIRMM01 Internet Radio Alarm Clock with built-in WiFi

Pros: This is a great radio who would like to listen programs from the internet radio stations around the globe without any subscription fees. This radio is very easy to connect your wireless or wired internet connection. It automatically tunes for the available internet radio stations. You can choose and save your favorite stations. It is easy to use and the sound quality is great! I would recommend this radio to my friends who are looking for next generation radios. I am giving 5 star rating to this small amazing devise.
Cons: No option to add new stations to the radio list. Not sure how often the service provide update the stations list.
