Customer Review: The Best sounds either indoor or outdoor
Summary: 5 Stars

Truly and amazing component by Altec Lansing. I may have regretted if I had invested over another product. I made a couple of purchases made by CREATIVE LABS and the blends were not so good. One of them, the Sub woofer was good and on the other the speakers were good and ended up returning the units that I bought.

Other than listening to music with your Ipod docked, this is an excellent unit for watching movies. It gives you the best surround sounds that you can think of on a small unit like this, and I just love the tiny remote on this unit. I have connected my MP3 player, the IPOD and recently I connected my DVD player too to the IM7. My neighbor thinks that I have bought a home theater by Bose and I'm yet to tell him what I have at home. The side firing sub-woofer could shake thinks inside ur home. what and excellent blend of highs, mids and lows...!!!!!

U DON'T NEED AN EXPENSIVE SOUND SYSTEM IF YOU GOT AN IM7 @ HOME.

THANKS TO ALTEC LANSING.

Customer Review: Money well spent
Summary: 5 Stars

For the money, this dock is wonderful. Clear, great bass, full, and most important, NOT tinny sounding. I gave 5 stars, but I would really give it 4.5 because of a couple of little glitches. First, the volume up and down on the dock are not that responsive--you have to solidly press either button to get a change. I would have expected that you could just touch them with normal pressure, but you have to really focus on the center and press down firmly to get the volume to change. Second, unless you have a more current IPOD (mine is the original Shuffle), the remote will not fast forward or backward. It's a software problem and you have to read the setup directions to find this out. I thought I was doing something wrong, but after I read the directions again, I realized you can only do this with newer models that have newer software. I had to buy the adapter for $20 which was fine and works just fine as well. Other than those two things, it's great. I would almost buy another backup I like it so much.

Customer Review: Very good value for $$$
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased the iM7 from Amazon after giving it a test run along with a few of its pricier and less expensive competitors at one of the big box stores. The iM7 easily provided the biggest bang for the buck in terms of price and sound quality. The price at Amazon was about 100 bucks cheaper than at the big box store and I used the money I saved to purchase a good battery charger and 8 rechargeable batteries.

Pros: The sound is one of its biggest selling points. It can go pretty loud before the quality begins to suffer. The unit also provides very nice bass considering the size of the speakers. We have used the unit both indoors and outdoors and the sound quality is great either way. It comes with a remote which we rarely use, but it's nice to have nonetheless.

Cons: The unit takes 8 D batteries, so it can be somewhat heavy for a "portable" speaker system. It also came with travel adapters which are useless to me since I would never take this out of the country.

Customer Review: Excellent Sound!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this unit not only for a playback instrument for my Apple Touch, but also for a speaker for my Apple laptop. On both accounts, it is everything I wanted it to be and I would recommend it highly.

The sound on this product is excellent. I was uncertain that the bass would meet my expectations but found it to be excellent. Adjustments to your sound preferences are easily made with the remote. The feel of the iM7 is solid and is not flimsy. Volume control is excellent, however, bass with bottom out with very loud volume settings. For "normal" listening levels, this is an excellent player.

Nice feature: Charges your Apple while listening.

Note, if you have a Apple Touch, the front door will NOT close as it will for the other Apple products. Adaptors are included for all Apple units, but Altec has not fitted this unit for the Touch. So, I just leave the door open or I hook it up using an aux cord.

Great Sound - Great Value.

Customer Review: Great Sound, Deep Bass, Cool Features
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this rig 4 months ago, before the iPod Nano. I found the Nano didn't fit, fretted over it and realized I likely had to pay extra for a retrofit cradle. Then I checked the Altec site, and they have the cradle adapter available free of charge (with free shipping). I mention this b/c it indicates the quality of service Altec gives. It shows in the IM7's solid, bass-heavy sound (delivered from subwoofer speakers in each end of the tubular body). I packed this thing to Mexico for a few months, and it cranked, filling a pair of rooms (no full wall separating them) very nicely. Compared agains the popular Bose Ipod system side-by-side, the IM7 has far richer bass -- even with the Ipod's booster set to off (when the Ipod had it "on" in the Bose unit). Plus, the inputs on the back of the unit and the battery compartments make this also modular across appliances (like a CD player into the back or S-Video out). Anyway, this thing rules the roost on the pack of midsize Ipod stereo boxes.
