Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Altec Lansing inMotion iM7 Portable Audio System for iPod (White)Customer Review: Complete OWNAGE Summary: 5 Stars
The IM7 rips to shreds any other speaker system I have ever owned - that INCLUDES a few Logitech 2.1 systems I've used for my dorm - that also includes my roommate's Harman Kardon and Sony 2.1 systems.
This bad boy fills my entire 35X25 dorm up no problem, even with a crowd of loud, drunken Wellesley girls. The bass is unexpectedly full, loud, and bumping. The main speakers hit the highs, mids, and lows no problem. Hip Hop sounds AMAZING on the IM7.
I bought the speakers with the carrying case and WILL DEFINITELY be taking it to a few hotel room parties with me and overseas for Spring Break.
As for problems with the dock or the ipod freezing - my best advice is that if you have a more recent Ipod model you should be fine - the newer hard drives can deal with the BASS BUMPING intensity of this speaker system. The remote control is weak, but I could honestly care less.
I give this speaker system 5 out 5 shot glasses - definitely a must buy, oh and did I forget to mention that it's PORTABLE!!!
Customer Review: Great Sound for less $ Summary: 5 Stars
The Altec Lansing inMotion iM7 has great sound and bass. This thing really rocks. Everyone is so surpised at how loud and clear it sounds. My friend has the Bose speakers and even he admits that these speakers have better bass and doesnt distort at higher volumes like his Bose speakers. My only gripe is that the bass and treble are controlled only by the remote (take care not to lose the remote!!!) and there is no indicater to see what bass or treble level you are at. You have to play it by ear. The speakers are also a little on the heavy side without batteries. I never put batteries in this badboy but i could just imagine how much 8 "D" batteries will weigh it down. Its great for a bedroom or backyard by a pool. I really recommend this product if you appreciate great sound and bass. I also bought the Altec Lansing inMotion iM9 speakers for work. These are truly great portable speakers and have the best sound of any speakers at that size. They also come with a nice backpack/carrying case. If you have a chance definetly check those out.
Customer Review: One Impressive Speaker System! Summary: 5 Stars
Look at all the great reviews on this thing! That is why I chose it.
I have listened to the expensive Apple iPod HiFi speakers and the Bose speakers and they don't even come close to the rich sound in this speaker and this one is about half the price! Amazon has the best price for it too.
Those other two speakers don't have the deep base, the iM7's subwoofer can kick. My iPod Nano 2nd generation looks great in this unit and I think this speaker looks cool in its design. BTW, Altec Lansing recently came out with the adapter to make your iPod Nano, 2nd generation fit snuggly in it. It already comes with an adapter for the first generation Nano but you have to call customer service to get a free 2nd generation adapter. Only took about a week and a half to get it. I think all other ipods have the adapters included with the iM7.
This speaker sounds great and I love the remote. I demo'd a lot of iPod speakers in stores and they sound (and look)like little tin cans with no power. This one rocks! Order it now.
Customer Review: Wife loves it !! Summary: 5 Stars
Hi,
I bought this for my wifes birthday.
She slipped her 30 gig 5th generation Ipod in and it has worked great ever since.
No lockups as some reveiws complain about.
And the remote works fine too.
The main thing is the quality of the sound it is really good.
Granted you cant fit it in your pocket, but it is no bigger than most small boom boxes out there.
Also in order to get the the great base sounds it still requires a large magnet and the expansion tube to produce it.
So if this unit is for home or office use, it simply can not be beat.
However if you want a player to stick in your backpack you may want to
get a smaller set of speakers for your mp3.
I have a Sandisk Sansa C140 MP3 player and loghtech MM28 speakers after
getting a ---.com credit card and using google checkout I wound up with the grand sum of $5.00 in the system. And for my money it is all I need for music around the campfire.
Well I hope you find this review helpful.
Thank you!
Customer Review: I am materialistic and shallow...BUT THIS BEATS THE BOSE Summary: 5 Stars
My iPod Nano needed a docking station so the search was on. I am a true sucker for name brands (Bose cubes; Sony components and 65"; Rolex watch; Armini suits; SAAB 9-5; U get the picture) so I was looking for a reason to buy the Bose, but after hours on line and in stores I bought the iM7 instead and it is awesome. The sound is rich, deep, and loud - better than the Bose. The price is right - better than the Bose. Portability was a major factor - better than the Bose. NOTE = Only the remote will adjust the treble and bass...but it does a great job with that and to navagate thru the iPod. NOTE = The door does not appear to be able to last (which is the major fault I found in reviews) but it still works with it open, and that is the way I will use it unless I move it (and I got an extended warranty just in case). If the door breaks I would give it a 4 star rating. A part of me still wants the name "Bose" sitting on my kitchen counter, but when I hear the iM7 I quickly forget the brand and enjoy the increadable sound.
