Customer Review: RockBox Enthusiasts Rejoice!!!

iPods have the capability to sound exactly like the CD that you've ripped your tunes from. Hidden behind it's simple design lie stereo widening capabilities, crossfeed, 7-band parametric equalizer, the ability to play .ogg files, crossfading, and much more...but you would have never guessed it. iPods have so much power stacked underneath its unassuming shell it's a wonder why Apple keeps it bottled up. RockBox, on the other hand, definitely let's the Goose loose.
I was intent on finding a great iPod speaker system. But I didn't want to go through the hassle of finding out whether or not it would function with the RockBox firmware. It seemed as if every review I read mentioned nothing of this. So I had to make sure those speaker systems that I was interested in had aux input just in case. And of course, it had to sound good and not break the bank. I definitely made the correct decision by picking the iM600. It sounds good. Not "good because of its size" (I swear I hated when reviewers said that). But good...PERIOD. It's a lot smaller than I thought it would be. But that only adds to its usefullness. It's almost as portable as your iPod. I take it outside when I wash my car. I bring it around with me when I'm working in multiple rooms of the house. I even take it in the restroom and have my tunes accompany me when I shower. No wires = less risk of electrocution. Hah!
And the best part? With the recent release of RockBox 3.2, you are now fully capable of controlling your RockBox from the remote control ("fully" as in all the functions on the remote of course). That means you can now switch tracks (forward 1/back 1), fast forward, rewind and pause/play in addition to lowering/increasing volume and turning on/off SFX which had already been possible. You can also turn on/off the system completely which in turn will also turn RockBox on or off. RockBox's wake function works perfectly. And line-out audio capability round out the features. Only thing that doesn't sync perfectly between the two is the video-out feature which isn't even available with RockBox anyway. No problem. Just switch back to iPod to watch videos.
I had only wished I could find a review that mentioned anything about RockBox when I was shopping so I hope that this review can help someone save a little time and money.

Elegant Design Matches the iPod
The iM600USB sports a distinctive thin and elegant glossy-black look. A spring-loaded button deploys the speaker's stand and reveals the iPod dock, power button, and volume controls.
Your iPod perches front and center, resting at an angle to display the current track information and album art while recharging. If your iPod model has the alarm clock and sleep timer features, they will work seamlessly with the iM600USB.
Various docking adapters are included, making the iM600USB compatible with most iPods. Also, an auxiliary input lets you connect any CD, DVD, or MP3 player using a stereo mini-plug.
Built-in FM Tuner
If you get bored with the songs on your iPod, the iM600USB has a built-in FM tuner, letting you listen to your favorite music and talk radio.
