After reading many positive customer reviews about this unit, I placed an order for one. Being on the West Coast, I assumed it would take 1 1/2 to 2 weeks to receive it. I was pleasantly surprised to have it in hand within 6 days! I've used the iM600 for about a month now and I totally agree with the majority. It could use a bit more bass, but for it's size and price, the sound quality is outstanding. The sound quality is best when using the SFX mode. When playing it indoors, there are no issues. However, when outdoors, I notice some distortion with the volume "cranked up." But, it's no more than what one would expect for a unit this size. The battery life is really good. I get over 4 hours of continuous use on a fully charged battery. I wouldn't hesitate at all to buy another.Customer Review: These are KICK A**!!!

Just got my speakers. I bought a cheaper version of Altec Lansing for a bday gift (the cost was around $60) - and they sounded AMAZING. So I bought this higher end Altec Lansing for myself. I'm a DJ so I have a very finicky ear - for the price you can't get any better than this. Some of my CD's are recorded very basey and the sound levels are distorted and they sound perfect on this system. Even though these are portable, i'm thinking about buying another one so i have one at home and at the office (so I only have to lug my ipod around). They are smaller looking than in the picture (which is cool because they're really portable) - and they have a very stylish flip out design for the docking station and stand. The antenna hides nicely away also. I highly recommend these!!Customer Review: Better than I expected

All I can say is that this little unit exceeded my expectations. I love a good sound with lots of base from a stereo which I did not really expect when I ordered the IM600. For the size and portability, I was pleasantly surprised at the sound quality. The base does not rival that of a big stereo but wow!! does it ever sound good for it's size.
FYI I have not tested other similar units. But for the price we are very satisfied with this one.

-surprising base for such a small unit
-the internal battery (wife brings it with her when getting ready every morning)
-Charges the Ipod
-remote can control the ipod
-Fm radio for a change

I bought mine a while back for less than $150.
What I like about it:
-Portability
-Chargable battery
-Very good sound quality and volume for size
-Radio & SFX functions
-has AUX/composite/Subwoofer input/outputs
-has different docks for different iPods that are interchangeable
-remote
Also, when you're charging the device or have it plugged in, it'll also charge the iPod. I recommend it for children's rooms, dorm rooms, even outdoor get-togethers. As a party device it's OK.
Cons:
-Remote connectivity is rather annoying since it only connects at certain angles
-Battery doesn't last that long...only a couple of hours at half the max
Overall, a decent piece of machinery.

I bought this to use in my bedroom and have the flexibility to take on vacation and use outside on the deck. It is perfect. The sound is very good, and the portablity is great. I was able to fold it up and put it in my suitcase for a recent vacation and loved having all my music ready to go in any room. The sound is not as good as the bose, but the price is half of the bose. I wish it was a bit lower in price, but it is clearly the best value in this range. I shopped around and looked at and listened to the competing items, and this was the clear winner. My only complaint is the glossy black plastic can scratch and get messed up easily. Like I said, I took it on vacation, and it got sunscreen, scratches etc on it. Well, it is now officially broken in!!! I love it!
