I purchased this Altec Lansing inMotion iM600 after buying a 100 dollar boom box for my new 80GB Classic iPod....Needless to say, the boombox I bought was horrible quality, horrible sound. I had looked at a lot of boom-boxes in different stores, and none of them seemed all that great. I was surprised to find that you couldn't really get a decent-sounding small audio system to dock your iPod in the 100 dollar range. Sooooo, I went online to see if there was something better out there in the same price range. After reading some reviews on various websites, I found the inMotion iM600 !! Much to my disbelief, this thing is awesome! It has excellent sound quality, especially if the "SFX" feature is turned on. It is small enough to be able to travel around w/ it easily. I love this thing! I can't believe the difference between this and the other systems I looked at in the stores. I bought this because the speakers built into my Macbook are wimpy. These speakers have a great, well rounded sound. The bass sounds full and sufficiently deep, but doesn't get very loud (as in party loud). I'm able to enjoy Electro House, Hip Hop, and Trance music at a strong volume with a properly adjusted equalizer.
This is the best portable system I've ever owned. The built in battery is great (it lasts for weeks in my backpack), and the size and weight (it's incredibly light) make it perfectly portable. I take this system to my friend's dorm room when we watch movies, and hook it up to his tv's headphone-out jack, for a full room-filling sound.
My only complaint is that it doesn't come with a carrying case. The smooth black plastic does get scratched easily (like iPods do), but for me that's not too big of a deal.
I would highly recommend this system to anyone who needs good quality sound on the go.

I'm very pleased with my inMotion iM600 portable audio system. The sound is great with my new ipod both in our dining room where it fills the room, to my classroom where it serves well as background and as a teaching tool at higher volume and in a presentation room of moderate size. The sound is excellent and is precise enough to hear individual instruments whether I'm playing jazz, classical, or popular songs. The rechargeable battery means I don't have to drag around an adapter or search for the closest plug - I can set up the system based on the best place for the music. The base folds easily so the unit fits into my back pack or other carrying case. The remote control is small but works well enough though I've usually chosen to adjust volume via the ipod. The ipod sits firmly in the adapter that fits in the well of the base. This unit is a huge value and delivers all it promises.Customer Review: Frikken Awesome !

This is such an awesome product ! I read reviews about it and was expecting to be the victim of lowered expectations, and 'ho hum' - another shiny black personal electronic product delivering marginal performance, having been hyped by endless drek from paid 'geek' reviewers and their lot.
OMG !
This is some of the best money I have spent in a long while, this lil baby is just loaded with great options, fabulous design, and wonderful sound !
Now, it is small, and the bass isn't it's best point, but it really rocks for the kitchen counter, the workdesk, on the go, picnic, whatever. The sound is warm, it is portable, has a pass through, the radio is excellent. In short, a cool lil, super well designed product.
I might have to buy another and send to me mum ! LOL

I bought this product after about a month of reviewing. I chose about 10 different iPod compatible stereos that would meet my needs, then reviewed all the pros and cons in both the "product descriptions," but mainly in the "customer reviews."
I finally narrowed it down to the "Altec Lansing inMotion iM600!" It was a well-deserved choice!!
I mainly wanted something I could slip into my backpack and bring with me to work. This stereo folds up neatly, is not heavy, is compact but with a big sound! It's got different adapters included to fit all sizes of iPod (mine is a 20 gig) and plays on both a rechargeable battery or a plug-in. The only thing to make it better would be some sort of padded case in which to transport it.
But,all in all, this is a great sounding, durable product to which I've gotten many compliments, and the price is unbeatable!!
