These are an excellent value. They do sound like a much more expensive set. I listened to several and wanted to buy the Klipsch. But in the end I am cheap and could not justify that much $$ for pc speakers. I actually bought a couple of sets of $40-$50 Logitechs and was disappointed. Then I bought these and was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality.

I'm not a gamer - these are used exclusively for listening to music while working. I use them at low to low-mid volume all the time, with an occasional blast of Pink Floyd at 80% to clear my mind. Easy listening, soft rock, celtic, metal, 70s, whatever. Everything from Ella Fitzgerald to White Lion.

I have a typical desk with hutch. The satellite speakers are on the desk under the hutch, and I've put the sub on a carpeted floor underneath. I dial the bass down to suit my taste. Mids and highs seem really good to me. I have not needed to fiddle with the software equalizer in my media player. I just set the knobs on the speaker base, and I really haven't had to revisit them. Remember, these have a total of seven speaker drivers: two high frequency and one mid in each satellite, plus the large sub. I keep the area in front of the high frequency drivers free of clutter, because highs are very directional. You aren't going to get clean highs in most rooms with a lot of barriers between the speakers and the listener. I've read that some people suggest special placement or "tilting" of the satellites to get good mid out of the satellites. I have not found that to be necessary.

My previous set was an el-cheapo $20 two-way no-name that was 10yrs old. So it isn't like I had high expectations. But after listening and doing some low-effort research on other speakers, I don't think you'll find a better set at this price.
