I was hesitant to get one of these since I had never used a disc repair machine before but with a few disc that needed to be fixed, I gave it a shot. At first it seemed a bit complicated with all the little pieces that needed to be interchanged, but after the first cleaning, I got the hang of it.
I had three discs that needed some work. One was a DVD that was a bit dirty, but played fine. Another was a game disc that was purchased used and was mildly scratched. The game would skip periodically. The last one was a DVD that was heavily marked and could barely play.
The dirty disc got cleaned quickly and looked shiney and new. The game disc went thru a cleaning cycle first and then the repair. The disc came out looking 95% free from the previous scratches and played perfectly with no skipping. The heavly marked disc required the buffing and 2 cycles of repair.
It looked 90% free from the blemishes and was able to play skip free. As previously mentioned, you'll need to put in and take out a number of pieces in order to do a cleaning or repair. The chemicals are effective but be careful about getting it on your skin too often.
The machine takes from 1 to 2 minutes to go through a cleaning or repair cycle. The heavy damage buffing takes a little longer. The machine is kind of noisy during the repair cycle. Overall I was pleased with the results. Even the heavily damaged disc was able to play perfectly.
I gave it four stars because it's a bit of a hassle to interchange the parts for cleaning or repairs. Also, the machine itself feels like it could break down easily with heavy usage. I recommend buying the refill value pack if you plan on doing many repairs/cleaning. Recommended for those who still rely on disc based media(as these get scratched easily).
