Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Aleratec 240131 DVD/CD Disc Repair Plus KitCustomer Review: So far it's great! Summary: 5 Stars
We have a metal shop here and everything gets VERY dusty.. sop needless to say we go through DVD players, but before they die they usually do some scratching on the DVD's.
I so this and figured? "why not". I had a DVD ( married with children season 5, disk 1) that ALWAYS would freeze, it had scuffs and scratches.
I popped on he "repair" heads, 3 drops of the repair liquid, popped it in for the cycle ( 2 minutes ) and popped it into the DVD...
It works!!
I have fixed several others.. yes you still see some scratched, but obviously they don't hurt the play-back! - and remember this is on a CHEAP 30 dollar Phillips DVD player.. on better units they can handle scuffed up disks better.
Now..I have not tried the heavy-duty repair, so far I have not needed to!
I have tried the simple cleaning and it took some skips out of on some music cd's and no problems.
"Is it the "best one out there?" I doubt it.
"Will it take out the deepest scratches?" I dunno.. maybe not
All I do know that it works! and if you have seen some of the conditions these DVD's are in..it is amazing that they work at alll - but they do!
Like other people have said they still "look" like they are scratched (Remember I never tried the "HD repair" ) - and for like 30 bucks.. you really can't go wrong!

Customer Review: Works Well Summary: 5 Stars
I have had this aleratec repair system for over a year and I have repaired X-Box games that no longer played because of scratches, a music CD my wife found in a street gutter that was so scratched it wouldn't play in our best CD player. I have used it to repair unplayable Netflix rentals without problem (of which there have been many-- who wants to wait to send the thing in and have it returned three days later). Of all the repair jobs I have tried, there has only been one that has failed: a badly pitted music CD that looked as though someone spilled acid on it. The bottom line: if you use the buffing pads in the proper order and know how to follow instructions, this machine will do a great job of repairing most scratched and moderately damaged CD's. Like I said, I have had mine for over a year and it is still running strong (although I am going to have to finally order a refill kit, as my buffing pads are getting very worn-- I've used them far past their recommended limit).
Customer Review: it helped me (at least on one CD) Summary: 5 Stars
I recently bought a double CD and while taking one CD out of jewel case, the other fell out - I did not notice that one of teeth holding the CD was broken. Picking the CD up, I noticed that it has a large scratch which made most of the songs unplayable on my player. Since it was a recent purchase, I decided to try out some repair kit and after reading reviews at Amazon, I have chosen this product.
In short: I had to perform the polishing procedure twice (followed by disc repair procedures) before the entire disc was playable. It is true that disc back surface does not look as mint new anymore (actually it looks horrifying with the array of circular scratches as a result of polishing action) but the original scratch has almost entirely been polished out and I can play the disc without a problem.
Of course, just to be safe, I made a backup of the CD on my PC before processing it :o).
Customer Review: A MUST for households with children!!! Summary: 5 Stars
My 2 yr old got ahold of our ENTIRE dvd collection. I think she tried to polish the brick fireplace with all the discs! I tried other cheaper items before trying the Aleratec. Nothing worked before this item. I CANNOT BELIVE how well this works!! Some discs still have small glitches in a few spots - but it's good enough for this family!! Every disc that I've repaired has had just amazing results! The discs still appear kinda scratched. I mean... you couldn't list them in "like new" condition on ebay. But the important part, is that they WORK once again!! I would HIGHLY recomend this to anybody that has a few destructive kids in the household. You just never know when they'll sneak into things and try to destory them! The Aleratec disc repair is INCREDIBLE!!!
Customer Review: Saved a completely ruined disc Summary: 5 Stars
A brand new game was destroyed when my Xbox 360 250GB Console with Kinect was accidentally bumped while the game was running. The scratch it caused went all the way around the disc, and was quite deep. I bought this with hopes that I would not have to pay another $60 to replace the game. After a few cycles with the buffing wheel, and then one with the repair wheel, the disc works as it did when it was new (2 days before it got trashed). Great little device to keep around.
