I've had a couple troublesome CD/DVDs that I used this on. It was able to help reading performance and remove most of the scratches. After trying the Memorex equivalent (far inferior to this!) of this product and being very disappointed I decided to give this a try.
As far as usage, unless the disc doesn't appear to have scratches, I recommend using the pink pads most of the time. These remove a slight amount of plastic and remove most scratches. After this follow up with the yellow buffing pads using the solution provided. This should fix most discs in about five minutes.
Included are enough pads and solution for many repairs and Aleratec also makes it nice because you can individually buy replacement pads and such.
I highly recommend this disc resurfacer and I feel it's the best one out on the market.

I've been looking for a way to fix the DVDs our toddler "enjoys". Obviously he shouldn't handle them, but he loves "helping" so how can I resist. Unfortunately he scratched up his favorite DVD to the point it won't play most sections. So this device arrives and I run the repair, buffer then repair, repair and clean. And to my disappointment the disc wasn't playable... until, I tried using more than a few (small) drops of the repair paste. Using three big drops and his DVD is playable once again. I'm repairing and cleaning DVDs from the Library too. If we still had Netflix this would be indispensable.
The instructions are clear and the device works quickly. Its pretty noisy though.

I don't know how other people used it, but it really does work. I had some scratches on GTA San Andreas (PS2) that froze during the game play. After I fix it, it works fine. Thanks to JChag (Louisiana), his easy description is much better than actual one. Use his procedure and actual one, it helps alot. Go down more to find his procdure. This product is not a magic wand, it won't restore the data which already damaged by scratches. If you scratched it deeply, of course, it won't work because you damaged surface where it contains the data. Sometimes, it's your cheap blank CD that looses the data, not because of minor scratches. We all promise to handle them carefully, by the edge. Then how do they get scratches? Or just when you pick up a multi DVD and open it, the "rack" that keeps them in places doesn't doesn't work and they fall out. Or WORSE - you just order the extended version of some set and find it comes it all the DVDS rattling around. Well, this is wish from the DVD genie!
It just doesn't clear your DVD's it repairs them. Seriously, my cat kept paying Lord of the ring so much she about wore it out. Same problem with my Lovejoy DVDs (cannot blame the puss for that one!) To the rescue. One time through and these DVD's play like new!!
Worth every penny!

I have a 2 Year old boy who loves to take DVD's out of their cases. Well, he is not very gentle on them. I had a bunch of DVD's with scratches and fingerprints on them. When I would try to watch them they would either skip or lockup the DVD player. I bought this cleaner after reading the reviews. It was easy to use, I had repaired a disk with in minutes after opening the box. Every disk that I have tried to repair has worked great. It has paid for it self with the disks that I have saved. There is enough pads and cleaner to do a lot of disks included with the cleaner.
If you looking for a good way to save your damaged disks.
