I rip many audio books from my local libraries to MP3 format to use in MP3 players and for long term storage on my hard disk. Many are scratched so badly that they cannot be ripped. I bought the Aleratec Disc Repair Plus and am very happy with this system although it is not able to fix many disc by itself(See later discussion on square polishing pad included with this replacement kit). Since I rip about 30-50 audio books a week, the polishing wheels go quickly. I agree with the user who said they thought the item was miss labeled. I was able to understand what this product was only be looking at the picture and seeing the color of the wheels. These wheels are exactly what I needed although the description is misleading in my opinion. My experience has been that using the polishing wheels(white with goop) does not give good results on anything but lightly scratch discs. I almost always have to use the pink(heavier buffing) wheels to get the discs repaired enough to be ripped. I have not purchased the 'white wheels with goop' replacement kit yet since I almost never use those wheels. I also purchased kits(4) from another source(same product) and have gone through 2 of these kits already. I do not see any difference between the original wheels and these myself. On many discs I have to run the disc through 2 -3 times before they are polished enough to read. By the way, the square pad is to 'hand sand' an extremely badly scratched disk. I make a circle motion(just like the unit does) and have had great results. Without this extra pad I would not get the results I have enjoyed. I plan on ordering more kits as needed.
