This phone answering system was very easy to setup and the sound is crystal clear. There are more bells and whistles than the average person would need and that makes the features menu a bit tedious. Also, the display and keypad really should be backlit. I hesitated to buy it because of the color. But it is not a stark white, rather a soft misty white. The handset cord is a little too short for a wall mount, so the speakerphone will come in handy. Overall, a very good product for the money. It can't be beat for sound clarity. The machine seems reliable and efficient, with good sound quality and attractive, pleasant design. There are second-level annoyances, however: The ringer choices are all irritating sounds, the message light is too big, too red, and too much like an emergency vehicle toplight. I like the language choices on the day/time readout and the ease of programming. It replaces an earlier model of the same brand I had for over ten years which was equally reliable. The phone works well and has 90% of the features you would want. It has only two drawbacks, you can't answer the phone when it is announcing the caller, and it has no Hold button. The first is more annoying than the second. You lift the receiver to answer the call, but the line remains dead until it is through with its announcement. Meanwhile, you keep saying Hello, Hello... Overall I'm satisfied with this phone and it's options, basically I got this phone for it's answering machine, everything works fine so far (2 months), however when I tried to record my voice as an announcement, the quality was not so good, I tried many times and with different distances from microphone still a lot of noises with my voice, however I still recommend this phone as it provides various options with reasonable price.Customer Review: AT&T 1855 Corded Telephone with Answering System and other nice features

Great phone. Has easy to use digital answering system, speakerphone, Phone memory storage, easy to customize features. Includes handling of advanced phone company features like Caller ID, Wall waiting, etc.
Large, easy to read keypad. The only thing I don't like about it is the too short power pack cord that must always remain attached to the phone, almost relegating it to desk only usage.
