Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of AT&T 1855 Corded Telephone with Digital Answering System and SpeakerphoneCustomer Review: Love the phone Summary: 5 Stars
I love this corded phone for its all-in-one feature and its simplicity. Just perfect for me.
Customer Review: Good, solid, no-nonsense phone Summary: 4 Stars
I've had this phone for over two years and it's served me very well. If you're looking for a phone with a million different "features" that you're unlikely to ever need or use, this one's not for you. But if you want a non-nonsense set that does everything you'd expect a phone and an answering machine to do, and well, then you've got a winner.
What I like about it:
(a) doesn't suffer from interference because it's corded;
(b) phone works even when there's a power outage (answering machine and call display don't, but those are unimportant in an emergency);
(c) fairly simple to operate, although the interface could be a little more intuitive (just this morning I had CL1 blinking on the display and have no idea what it means, and nothing I did changed the phone back to normal, even though everything works just fine, memory is intact, etc);
(d) despite less-than-stellar interface design, set has a very good ergonomic design;
(e) sound quality is far superior to any cordless phone I've ever used; and
(f) the set has an answering machine, a mute button and a speakerphone, which are the only features not present in the most basic phones that I actually use from time to time.
Can't think of any serious cons. Another reviewer complained the phone doesn't have a back light for the buttons or the display, but this has never been a problem for me -- I guess I only ever use the phone when there's at least a light on somewhere.
Customer Review: Best I found Summary: 4 Stars
I'd like to start by saying that it seems nearly impossible to find a quality, low end corded phone with a built in answering machine. I mean, we're making iPhones now, people. You'd think we could get this right.
This phone does the job well enough. It has good sound quality while on a call, is fairly simple to set up (however, I am of the tech generation. I imagine anyone who is not familiar with gadgets could get confused VERY easily), and the answering machine works well. Complaints: short cord (it's like three feet long--what's up with that--I'm used to moving around while talking on the phone), the mic that records your greeting for the answering machine is terrible (it makes you sound like Darth Vader), and the power cord falls out easily, which means if you ever move the phone and it disconnects you have to set up the answering machine again. And again. And again...
But like I said, it's the best one I found, so work with what you got!
Customer Review: Good for the price Summary: 4 Stars
All I needed was a corded phone with speakerphone, mute and a digital answerer. I'm very happy finding those features for this price.
The manual is not particularly user friendly but it does state everything that you need. (For example, the person who didn't know how to replay messages more than once should just press and hold the play button. The person who couldn't change the ringer volume should just press the volume button while the phone is not in use).
Most other reviewers covered the true negatives: wall mounting, no backlit caller ID, no backlit buttons and no hold button. The only thing I can add is that the phone seems to call me back after I hang up, and I can't quite figure out why. If those negatives are your priority, definitely choose another phone. Otherwise this phone is an excellent buy!
Customer Review: Good Phone. Simple. Lots of Options. Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased this phone for Caller ID and a digital answering machine. It has lots of other features too. I paid $20 for it. Overall, it's a slick, simple phone. Great looking and easy to use.
My favorite feature is it's Caller ID Announce. When activated and a call comes in, a voice announces the number calling. I also like default outgoing message "Please leave a message" in a computer voice. The ringer options are only OK. Most of them are a little high pitched and annoying. Also, the cord to the handset was super short. I immediately purchased a longer cord. This phone has many bells and whistles, but they are all easy to set-up and change with the touch of a button.
