Customer Review: Perfect Input Device for Finale

This external numeric keypad enables Finale users to input musical notation using the rapid entry mode. Rapid entry allows the completion of an 8 to 12 part score in about half the time of standard entry. Adesso AKP-150 works perfectly, in my case with a MacBook laptop. The number lock is crucial to Finale's rapid entry mode, for the entry of rests. I tried two different external keypads sold at a local computer store. They were the only keypads rated Mac compatible sold at the store, but neither did the job. The first lacked the number lock key, making entry of rests impossible in Finale's rapid entry mode. The second was extremely inexpensive, and may have lacked the necessary quality, either in the individual unit or in its design, to function with Mac. The Adesso AKP-150 did the job immediately, with Mac. I received my first Adesso AKP-150 as a gift. It worked very well. However, be careful to carry and support the Adesso with the laptop, when moving your laptop . I allowed the Adesso to dangle from the USB port when moving the laptop and damaged the AKP-150's USB cord. The connection became erratic and eventually dissipated entirely. When first using the AKP-150, screen commands require the entry of information that is impossible on a laptop lacking its own keyboard. Ignore the command and commence the use of the AKP-150. It will function, and very well.
