Customer Review: A must have accessory for the Vado 720 pocket camcorder

Having never owned a video recorder before, I spent days comparing products and accessories! I finally chose the Vado 720 8g HD camcorder Creative Labs Vado HD 720p Pocket Video Camcorder with 8 GB Video Storage and 2x Digital Zoom (Black) OLD MODEL and every accessory I could find to go with it. I was a little reluctant to buy this item because of the hard case that comes with a bundle offer for all the cords and chargers GTMax 5 IN 1 Charger Bronze Case Cable LCD Protector Accessory Bundle Kit for Creative Labs Vado HD 720p, Vado HD 4GB 8GB Pocket Video Camcorder, and also because of the somewhat higher price. Don't let either of those reasons stand in your way. Get this carrying case even you don't get any other goodies. It is so worth it.
The material and construction are high quality. There is a wide, sturdy verticle "loop" attached to the back of the case that enables you to slide it onto a belt or purse strap and carry it that way. There is also the optional strap that can be used on or over the shoulder or around the waist like a fanny pack. This strap is well-constructed with durable vinyl clips that will not slip off or break easily.
The flap over the top has a generous velcro closure that won't wear out too soon. There is a loop large enough for a big finger to slip in and lift up the velcro flap. No more scratching and peeling at the edge of velcro! The flap protects the smaller of the two pockets inside. The larger pocket has a sturdy zipper that opens 2/3 of the way down on one side only, preventing contents from spilling out. The zipper is sturdy and will hold up under normal usage. The rubber zipper tab is large enough to grip comfortably when using the zipper.
The case itself is sturdy, well proportioned and easily accessible. Both pockets are lined with padding sufficient to protect the contents from normal jarring or dropping. There is plenty of room in the case for the camera and several accessories, including the tripod which comes with it. The accessory bag that comes with the carrying case and tripod is a soft, velvety bag with a drawstring closure. Here is how I have configured all my goodies, I hope you find this helpful:
First, I put the usb & dmi cords, the usb car charger, the usb wall charger and an extra tripod Sunpak 620-786 Mini-Spider Tripod in the drawstring accessory bag. Next, I put the camera in the smaller front pocket of the carrying case. After putting the rubber 'skin' on the camera (comes with camera), I had no fears of it "slipping" out of that pocket when the flap was up! To me, it makes the camera quickly accessible without having to unzip the pocket holding the other accessories. Then I put the tripod (included with the case) in the larger pocket. I took an extra battery (sold separately)Creative Labs Rechargeable Lithium Ion Battery for Vado HD Camcorder, put it inside the waterproof camera bag (also sold separately) Creative Labs VA0580 Vado and Vado HD Waterproof Pouch (Blue), rolled it up and slid it into the larger pocket with the tripod. Finally, I took the hard case that came with the accessories bundle and put it away in a drawer, not really being useful for anything.
What I have ended up with are two small containers that hold everything I need. One to keep on me with a spare battery and waterproof bag in case of rain. The other to go in a purse, backpack or glove box. All my parts and pieces are organized and handy!
There is only one alteration I would make to the carry case, if I could. I would include a small verticle or slanted pouch or slot inside one of the pockets to secure a spare battery. They are so small, I wouldn't want to drop one loose in either pocket. This is a suggestion, not a criticism. I think this carrying case is an excellent product at an excellent price.
