Customer Review: Superb Phone That Works When Power is Out

This is the AT&T classic princess phone model that was marketed as an extension phone for teenagers up to 1984. At that time "The Consent Decree" (Justice Department) forced AT&T out of the local phone markets and broke up their equipment monopoly. But these phones have hung around since they provide dynamite voice quality and reliability. They are rugged. And in this era of unreliable utility power service, this phone will work when the electricity is off! Your fancy wireless and electronic phones won't. I purchased three of the AT&T 210 phones after frustrations with trying to buy a reliable inexpensive phone locally. I had to take a local purchase back to a department store after my son and mother could not hear me well when I called them with it. The reviews here convinced me to get this phone. I then tested it with my son and he said I was clear (unlike with the earlier phone I was using). Great feel and design. I decided not to get Black since I could get white and bisque for only $11.99 each - and buying 3 phones qualified me for free shipping from amazon. Three excellent phones in the house for $35.97. I was thrilled to find this phone. I have two AT&T 210 Trimline corded phones which were bought back in the 1980's and they still work fine. My new phone that I just purchased is exactly the same; same sound quality, the only difference I noticed is it is a bit lighter in weight. But that is not a problem. I am very happy with my purchase. I wish it came in more colors like red, or green. The only colors offered were black or white. This phone has the versatility of either being a desk phone or a wall phone. That's nice too. It was a good price too of $10 for the phone and shipping. This telephone fit the bill for what we were looking for. We wanted something inexpensive (translate to cheap!) but still good quality & with the features we wanted. It had to be corded so that it would still work if the power went out; we wanted to be able to adjust the bell volume for when it rang since we have it in the bedroom & didn't want it to scare us when it rang late at night, plus the lighted buttons on the handset are a nice plus. We're more than happy with our purchase of this phone & the price was a plus. We love Amazon.com. What a relief that they haven't stopped making these yet. I've owned the same one for over a decade now with nary a problem. I just purchased one for my brother whose battery was always dying in the middle of a conversation. There's alot to be said for simple technology, like this phone still works when the power is out and it's likely to last forever because there's very little that can go wrong with it. This is an excellent phone to have around for when the fancy multi-function, cordless, combination answering machine, 10,000 ring tone, does-your-dishes-and-wipes-your-a%@ phone just doesn't work!
