This little answering machine was exactly what we needed - nothing fancy; it does everything we need, takes messages, gives date/time, can adjust volume, easy to program. It's small enough to place on a small nightstand and was easy enough for a clutz like me to install. The machine works just fine. The sound quality is very good and the volume can be set high enough so calls can be screened from another room.
The written instructions for setting the time and day and other features are confusing. Instruction #2 should say "Press and hold SETUP until the system announces the feature you want to set, then release."

This unit works fine. I agree with the detailed review left by Jack Berry. Simply put, the unit works flawlessly, extremely easy to setup initially, the sound quality isn't great, but I'm not buying a BOSE answering machine. Before I purchased this product I read some of the reviews and was uncertain about the voice quality. But I bought it anyway because the price was right. I was NOT disappointed at all. Setting up this little beauty was super simple, and the voice quality is very good. I have no problems understanding my callers messages. A simple "stand alone" telephone answering machine is hard to find. I called a few box stores and was told "we do not carry such a product anymore." Our business telephone system has an answering feature, but I do not want to use the business system. The ATT1738 is simple to install and set up. Great product at a friendly price.
