Over the past couple of years I've tried several different external power supplies for my iPods. While some of these, the Nyko in particular, were pretty good, they did not work with my iPhone. When I saw the APC UPB10 on Amazon, I ordered it ASAP. After completely charging the Mobile Power Pack I used it on a flight from Detroit to Paris. I can't say for certain how many extra hours the APC extended my iPhone viewing time. If I had to guess I'd say that it easily doubled the 3.5+ hours that I normally get using my iPhone to watch video.
The power pack is easy to use with devices that can charge that have USB charging capability. Charging the UPB10 with the provided cord/plug is equally simple. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the UPB10 was much smaller and lighter than I expected.
I highly recommend this as an extra power supply. To date this is the best such device that I have used for my iPods and iPhone.

I don't know why this thing is such a secret. I love this little battery backup for my iPhone. Until Apple figures out a way to get a long day out of the iPhone battery without bulking it up with external cases and cradles, this is the best thing out there.
This little APC battery backup is for you if you want battery backup for your iPods or iPhones and don't want a bulky attached battery. So easy to use: you just juice this thing up quickly (only takes about 3 hours) and toss it in your bag. It works with the cable your iPhone came with to rejuice your iPhone. It rapidly adds power to your iPhone.
The thing looks really nice, even better than the photos. The biggest surprise is how light it is.
Durable and long-lasting - mine has lasted for almost 2 years so far and no sign of battery life loss yet.

I've had the APC Universal Battery for three years. I've used it with iPods, iPhone, iPads, GPS devices (TomTom and Garmin) and Blackberry phones. It is simple and adds hours to the battery time of a device.
I love how it just provides a standard USB port that you can plug anything into it. It can also charge itself at the same time as powering an attached device. I will use this in my car to power an iPod and recharge the device (with a car adapter) at the same time.
The other primary use cases are plane travel (makes my iPhone last an entire day while watching videos) and on my bicycle, running a GPS app on my iPhone. After 100 miles the battery in the iPhone is still full and the APC device still has half a charge.
Overall I'm very pleased with this device.

This product is absolutely great. It's a lot smaller and lighter than I expected to be - it is about the size of a deck of cards but 1/2 the thickness. This charges any gear I have that has a USB cord. That includes my cell phone (Samsung Instinct) both iPods (Shuffle and mini) and my Archos 605 video player. I used this on a 3 week trip to Europe. The side benefit to the extended battery life is that I could also leave the bulky a/c adapters at home, and just bring the USB charging cords for all of my gadgets. The APC battery backup charges well and doesn't "fry" my devices. It knows to stop charging once the battery is full. There is an indicator light to show you when the device is fully charged and how much charge is remaining when it's in use. I highly recommend this for any road warrior or gadget lover.Customer Review: Better than expected

I'm basically a moron when it comes to technology. All I know is that I plug this thing into my drained iPod and a very short while later it's fully charged. I'm guessing a half hour or so, but I could be mistaken, as I am usually listening while charging.
Lightweight, portable (I carry it in my fairly large purse). Holds a charge like crazy. I can charge the iPod at least 3 full times before needing to worry at all about the APC.
My two complaints are extremely trivial and maybe don't even belong here. The finish is glossy, which I don't like; and I don't care for the indicator light- it's a long bar that grows increasingly dimmer toward the end when the unit needs to be charged. No big deal as I said.
All in all a great product.
