Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of APC BE750G Power Saving Battery Back-UPSCustomer Review: WattsUp! Premium Power To The People! Summary: 5 Stars
A really nice unit at a great price, currently in service without the software install...
Worked like a charm through several short blackouts we've had lately in our rural CA locale during the latest storms with an i7 desktop replete with mid-to-high range graphics and a 20" monitor, USB hub and external hard drive all protected...
No obnoxious clicking sounds with the merest of power dips (unlike the previous Costco model I had)...
Completely solved my USB hub's 'brownout' problems that caused the backlit keyboard and USB external hard drive to glitch whenever the laser printer's heater/fuser element powered on--I'm guessing that means it's more responsive/got a lower latency rating...
Free shipping for an anvil-esque item with no tax--who could ask for more?
Customer Review: Has worked through numerous power outages Summary: 5 Stars
This UPS has worked very well for me. I've had the unit for about 3 years. We average approaximately 8-10 power outages per year and the APC device has worked every time. I have a computer, a RAID array and a cable modem hooked up to the UPS. There is more than enough time to shut everything down gracefully. AFter shutting down the RAID array, I always seem to have time available to check the scope of the power outage via the internet (Roadrunner cable always seems to function through our power outages).
I will order another one of these units for another computer.
I do not use the PowerChute software, so I can't comment on its functionality. My RAID array notifies me on my cell phone if it goes on to battery power, so I always know when there is an outage.
Customer Review: Works Fine with Linux Summary: 5 Stars
Good: Works as advertised. Unit was only 4 months old at delivery. Was easily able to configure apcupsd to hibernate my linux system after 60 seconds on battery. I have a PSU with active power factor correction and this unit generates an adequate signal for it (some others have reported problems with such PSUs and this unit).
Bad: "STOP" sticker left permanent gunk on unit. Ethernet ports only pass 10/100 ethernet, not gigE. Master control feature is cute although I suspect if I were to measure I'd find the control relay and circuitry wastes more power than it saves. BATTDATE was incorrectly (I hope!) set to 2001-09-25 in the firmware. LEDs on the unit are too bright for a bedroom.
Not perfect, but I'll still give it 5 stars. It gets the job done. Recommended.
Customer Review: Great unit Summary: 5 Stars
When I realized that I needed to buy a new computer, I made a decision to protect my investment. While there are various models and each person decides what they want or what they want it for, I decided that this one works for me. I have been using this for about three months now and it works great! My apartment sometimes get minor power outages or the power flickers on and off sometimes and this unit has been able to protect my computer like a charm. When I power down my computer, everything that I assigned to turn off goes off completely and turns back on when I power up. Having 10 outlets is great too.
Update** I have had this over a year now and it has worked great. I love it so much that I purchased a smaller one for my all-in-one, laser printer, and back-up drives.
Customer Review: The 750v 120 Back-up and surge protecter. Summary: 5 Stars
I bought two of these at one time. One for my new computer and another for my HDTV system. It brings great peace of mind and removes a lot of trouble as when there is a surge with the cable TV it sets all shows to "To Be Announced" for all channels. That problem is now gone which I still had with a $100.00 Power Max surge protector. The price was about $20 less than Best Buy where I first saw them. The most important thing I can say is that it brings peace of mind and wish I had bought them a long time ago. If you don't have one you are at the mercy of every power surge and short power outage there is. This product is worth the money and then some. Good systems cost us thousands today and it is silly to not go the extra step and get the protection you really need!
