I live in an area where 1 minute blackouts are not uncommon, so I was searching for something that would protect my investment.
This unit does it's job effectively for people that need something that will prevent everyday surges and improper shutdowns due to power loss. I have it supporting mainly a 2001 Dell PC with Windows XP Home and have never had any problems in 2 years of ownership, but it has saved my PC many times from abnormal shutdowns.
Setup is simple - just plug it in, install the software, and connect to a USB port. The software is a monitoring program that will enable your PC to react appropriately to power conditions. You will never know it's there aside from the tray icon(unless of course you have a power-outage). I noticed no change in performance of my PC once it was installed.
If you need something that will give you a significant amount of usage time when the power goes out, you should probably go for a more expensive option - but for my purposes - something that will protect my PC from occasional blackouts - this does very admirably. 5 stars.
