I've purchased probably twenty of these for customers in the last couple of years and everyone's as pleased as punch with them. APC makes high quality stuff and the 550VA fills the bill -- not too small for backup power for several computer components and not too large and expensive. So far I'm very pleased...I purchased this to safeguard my fiancee's Mac Mini. Setup was a breeze, just connect the battery, charge, plug in the AC and connect the data port to the Mac's USB port. The Mac instantly recognized the UPS in the Energy Saver section of System Preferences and provided me with several automated shutdown options...no additional software or configuration was necessary.Customer Review: Great product, working just as expected.

We live in a semi-rural area and with every electrical storm we have one or two brief power outages (a few seconds each). Using satellite tv, the service would have to reset after each outage, taking 10 minutes or so each time. With this backup in place, we've been through three storms and seven power glitches now without any interruption in our tv reception. I have three UPS units, currently all three are APC. They have all served me well. I bought this to replace a unit that was approximately 5 years old. The battery went bad in my older unit and a replacement battery was the same cost as a new unit, so I went with replacing the entire unit.
I lose power frequently and these units have always performed well.

My office simply has too many electronics -- all over the place. For the price of this, I get more than a simple surge protector, and the small island I live on has horrible power. I use four of these in my office for my smaller loads (printers, routers, DVR, cable modem, etc) and my wife uses two in her office. They've saved us countless times!
