With thousands of dollars of computer equipment and terabytes of photos, video, music, and personal data at stake, I trust my APC UPS to safeguard my equipment from the ravages of rural power. Though my in-house wiring has been updated, we still see occasional brownouts and random blackouts that can last fifteen minutes. This UPS gives me 22 minutes in runtime with two computers on it (hoping to change out a system and clear the half-hour mark soon). The LCD panel tells me everything about my current consumption, it even lets me calculate my computer energy costs.Customer Review: APC is as tough as the railroad

I have been working for CSX for over 5 years and many types of APC Back-UPS have been used on communications equipment and computers some of the equipment have had lightening strikes with minor issues afterwords and having a battery back up helps to improve safety by giving the employees time to adjust to the changing work conditions. APC has saved CSX several thousands of dollars in equipment and many hours labor.If it is tough enough to handle work load the railroad puts it though then I am very certain that it can handle the abuse my wife will put it though.Customer Review: Had it a week...

And it seems fine. The read-out is cool, especially the estimated run-time based on the current power draw. It counts down as you use it up, too.
I think the 900W capacity is the max it can power, and the display will also tell you it's too much (if suppose, you plug your laser printer into it, or run your window AC unit, iron or blow-dryer on it) And I think it can only really put out the whole 900W for about 5 minutes, but I do like the 1500VA - I have a 10W thermoelectric cooler on it that would run for several hours if the power failed.

I did a lot of research when replacing my old LS700 and found so many positive reviews for this model, I gave it a shot. It may be pricier than some models, but in the 2 months that I have had it, it has handled 3 power outages (one was for over an hour!) & several brownouts with flying colors! Not only does it power my workstation, but keeps my cable broadband & VOIP up as well. The batteries are fully replaceable. This is my 3rd APC product. Its a very solid product and pays for itself quickly when one lives in a problematic power area!Customer Review: Does what it should and lets you keep you informed with data

This is a fine UPS. The display panel is of great use and supplies a lot of information, much of it trivial but some like trivia. The UPS powers a Mac Pro with 12 gig of ram, 4 hard drives, an LCD monitor, a dsl modem, a router, a telephone, answering machine and a desk lamp, and it still using only 28% of its capacity. I ran my system for just over 15 minutes during a recent blackout before the system warned me I needed to shut down. And... The price is great, half what I paid a couple of years ago for a lesser UPS.
