There is nothing more satisfying than buying exactly what you need and it working exactly how it is supposed to right out of the box. And at half price! I am photographing engraved calligraphy on glass and metal and the reflection and lights bouncing off the objects was a real problem. This kit resolved the situation entirely. Excellent quality, ease of use and portability. I even bought inexpensive clamp on lights from Home Depot thinking the small lights included wouldn't be enough light but didnt even need them. The stand included is also very worthwhile and allowed me to set up the camera very close to the object to get super fine detail of the engraved words using the macro setting.I found instructions online for building a similar box from inexpensive pvc piping. Materials would cost around $20. Forget it. By the time you get everything, the time alone would cost you more and you wouldnt have the stand, lights or convenience of folding the whole thing up to about the size of a large wall calendar. There is a little fold in the backdrop - I would try steaming it out NOT ironing and roll to store. you can buy different colors separately.
