Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of 3DConnexion SpacePilotCustomer Review: Don't know how I got along without it! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this for use with SolidWorks 3D CAD and for no other reason. This has absolutely transformed how I design on the computer. I've been using 3D CAD software on PC's since 1998, I started using this in 2007. After a little time getting use to the sensation of manipulating the model with one hand and doing the design work with the other, I have only gotten faster and faster. I can easily say that I spend less than half the time with my model on the screen than I use to during the design process. It's not just the model manipulation; the button layout is easy to access with your fingers. After customizing a few buttons I now rarely ever even touch my keyboard, only to enter in numeric values. If you use any of the current 3D design programs this could really help you. In regards to the review about it not working with MAC's, I can only say check and make sure both your application and platform is supported, so long as it is, this is a wonderful tool. It is expensive, but if you are a design professional, you'll get a return on your money very shortly.
Description of 3DConnexion SpacePilotThe 3Dconnexion SpacePilot connects you to the 3D design process like never before. Its optical sensor technology and ergonomic design combine to deliver unprecedented control and fewer distractions. Use the SpacePilot in your non-dominant hand to position, rotate, pan and zoom your model in one single, fluid motion. Use the mouse with your other hand to simultaneously edit the model or select menu items. 50% fewer mouse clicks. 30% more productivity. Gone are the days when 3D navigation meant endless mouse clicks to move around an object or to fly through space and remembering how to change views and control objects within the X, Y, Z axes... one tedious step at a time. Plus, it is no longer necessary to remember different application's unique commands for manipulating 3D objects or scenes. With 3Dconnexion's SpacePilot, you simply push, pull, tilt or twist the SpacePilot's controller cap to simultaneously pan, zoom and rotate 3D imagery. Y
